Headwinds spot/turn combo with daymakers - HELP!
« on: August 31, 2014, 09:55:45 AM »

I just installed the daymakers on my '09 Road Glide as per the instructions and with help from a few other threads/youtube videos. I hooked up the 3 prong adapters and then the orange/white wire off the main harness to the wire coming from the lights? I am not sure I should of done this since I don't have the OEM turn signals, flipped on the ignition, daymakers work fine but no turn signals.
My dash light for the turn signal flashes normal at first then flashes faster and I have power to the turn signals. Any ideas or thoughts......thanks

A fast flash means the turn module is not seeing a load. Turn signals not following dash indicator = no connection. Sounds more like a grounding problem to me.

2k............do you think since they are not mounted and grounded that would cause it? I tried them before I bolted everything back up so they were just hanging there. They worked fine before I installed daymakers........

When that happened to me it was the load equalizer wire was disconnected when the battery got changed. Also happened when I first installed the Custom Dynamics turn signals and didn't install a load equalizer. Didn't happen for a few days after install (thought I wouldn't need the equalizer).

No load equalizer as I have the stock turn signals, halogen bulbs........after I went and unhooked that orange wire that comes from the daymakers,,,,,,I unhooked it as it said it was for the OEM turn signals which I don't have. After that the right turn signal now started working........anybody have the daymakers with Headwinds spot/turn signal combos that can comment?

Haven't done them but have read many threads about them. That or/wh wire is coming from the Daymakers correct? I believe it's for the Bar and Shield logo. If so it's an LED light.

Now if you've tapped into the turn signal wire that's where things are goofy. There should be an orange wire coming from the headlight harness that has a red cap on it. That's for the fender tip light of the Ultras. Same wiring harness for these bikes to that point. Try using that wire to attach to the or/wh wire coming off the daymakers.

I'm looking for a pix of that orange wire with the red cap on it.

Ohio...yes that or/wh wire is coming form the daymakers. The or/wh wire coming from the stock harness I have tapped into for my amp but its split so theres still a power source coming from it. I had read it was for the HD symbol on the daymakers but since  I unplugged the daymakers from it,,,,,,,,,my turn signal started to work again. Is it a coincidence or something else?
