mastertune questions
« on: September 26, 2014, 10:03:42 PM »

Bought a tts mastertune in spring of 2013, and loaded the map onto my 2012 cvo street glide. later on, the laptop crashed and i lost my stock file. (no big deal) This summer i wrecked my bike, & while in the hospital it was wrote off, and went to salvage.
Today i put a down payment on a 2015 cvo street glide. What i want to know is: I want to put aftermarket exhaust on this bike too. What do i have to do, to use my mastertune that was programmed to my old bike that is gone? It is the blue box if that matters.

I have the same question.....

Sold my bike, bought the TTS from Fullsac in 2012. The buyer is going to use a SERT down the road. Can I use this TTS on a new HD?

Sorry guys, you'll need to buy new units, or get with TTS and send them your old unit for re-licensing.  These are one-shot deals, locked to the ECM of your bike.  Two-bike units are available, but they cost about 600 to a single bike 400.  If I remember correctly.  Call them up and tell them your story, they may toss you a bone.

It will cost you $200 for a dual license that will allow you to use it on a new bike. http://www.mastertune.net/harleydavidson.htm

Thx deldago: I might as well go for the dual upgrade, then I can pipe the wifes bike, and use the second program on hers.  ::)

Perhaps not.  Cole would be the person to say for sure.  But as the circumstances have been described here the dual license upgrade would likely only add an existing license to the current device.  Its first license, however, is still tied to the bike it was originally installed to.  So doing the dual license upgrade is admittedly a cheaper way to add one more license but it won't get you two new licenses.

Ah crap. Ok, i'll tell them my story & see what they say. Worst case scenario is another $200, better than starting from scratch.
By the way, what would be the advantage of having 2 maps for the same bike?

If you have a good map, you don't need a second one.  Some people claim they like to have separate maps for riding at altitude versus sea level, or for when they can't get high octane gas, or various other reasons.  If that sort of thing floats their boat, fine with me.  But it's not necessary if you get one map set up correctly, and I recommend you have it set up to run on mid-grade gas rather than premium.

Despite much of the popular mythology in all but rare circumstances none.  The system compensates for altitude, fuel demand and the rest of our usual riding differences.  It's not like the old days when we (might have) carried a second carburetor so that the "altitude carb" could be swapped on at the side of road at 4500 feet or so to finish going over the Rockies.

I see: The map that Fullsac sent me for my bike worked awesome, and I rode from sea level to over 6000' without any issues.

It's not two maps for one bike, it's a second bike on that tuning device.  There is no limit to how many maps one can create and upload (one at a time) to a bike that is married to a dongle.
