But, ice, you don't run the 5 gal. tank dry do you? Probably use 4 gal. or so if you stop when the low fuel light comes on and that would give mileage in the 40's.
spyder
Yes you are probably correct Spider, most of the time there would be some gas left in the tank, and yes my mileage guesstimate was probably on the conservative side, its probably in the lower 40`s
The add fuel light comes on with 2 of the 7 led lamps burning, but I mostly run my tank down to the last led before I fillup when I am travelling with my wife as she is riding a FLHX Street Glide with a 6gallon, .............when we are going places we ride up to 1000KM per day.
When ever I have a new bike we do a run tank dry test (while carryin a couple of spare 1Litre gas bottles) so that we know roughly how many KM we can achieve on a full tank of fuel.
I find this 7spot led system fuel guage very misleading and inaccurate, I dont always notice when the add fuel light comes on and therefore am never absolutely sure how many KM I have left, on average I would guess that I can still do (run dry) almost 100km when the add fuel light comes on.
In most places in Europe there is a gas station every 40 to 50 km but there are a few exceptions that I am now aware of

On a couple of occasions while burning up the Autobahns I have missed a gas station exit and actually run out of gas, or especially in Belgium where there is a longer distance between them I have been running on fumes when on one occasion I have found a gas station and put in 18.6 litres
