Pay me to quality test
« on: November 17, 2014, 06:43:02 AM »

So I think companies who are serious about quality should be lining up at my door.  Joking, but really.

I think many of you had followed my story about the bad luck I had with my 2012 RGC CVO and the numerous times it went in for repairs.

Bad tires
Bad Compensator
Bad main wiring harness
Bad relays
Bad switches
Bad VR

I also posted here about the misdortunate events I had with the Lyndall composite rotors.  If you remember these the rear completely melted away.

And now I just got word back on my Monotubes.  I experienced a degradation of performance over about 5k miles, to the point it was u safe to ride.  After much back and forth with Progressive they finally agree to take a look at them and send me an RMA number.  So the other day I got my email.  progressive said that my Monotubes had the old style seal and some contaminants got in and they went bad.

But really if someone needs something tested, let me know :)

Glad you're taking care of quality control for all of us SmokeyJoe... Think I'd be a bit more than discouraged after reading your litany of issues. Hope the RGC gets squared away for you.

Had a problem with the monotubes also. Progressive said I had the old style also. My mechanic replaced him and sent off for RMA. Got it but took several months to replace. New ones are starting to bottom out also. Progressive says they have to be tightened to keep from bottoming out. Backwards to my thinking. Going to wait till spring and replace with something else. Looking back I could apply for your position also.

Glad you take it all with such a positive attitude.

Any sense of when these bad seals were used in the monotubes?  I have a set I installed a 1-2 years ago and now I'm concerned

Not sure but mine were bought last November.  The decay was fairly rapid then they sort of tapered off until they were completely shot.  I had so many other bad things going on with my bike and trying to race the expiring warrenty that they got put on back burner.

Why should they pay us? All they have to do is write some bs copy saying "new & improved" and we'll pay them (buy their $hit) to test their products :nixweiss:

Joe, how many miles on the Skunk?

So true,

There are nearly 14k miles on the bike of which 12k are test ride miles.  At least that was the running joke I had with my dealer.  I believe my troubles are behind me now at least the unusual ones.  This bike nearly had me giving up on Harley.  Then reality sunk in and I have way to much HD wardrobe to make that a good choice:)

You have a great attitude about the whole thing. I wouldn't handle it nearly as well. We pay a lot of money for these bikes. Issues like yours should not be the case.
I've been very fortunate to be issue free, with the exception of some peeling chrome that got replaced under warranty. That was enough for me.
