help removing lowers
« on: December 20, 2014, 09:47:35 AM »

i am putting my fullsac DX pipe on today and i am trying to remove the lower, throttle side.  I have the speaker out and the 2 plugs to get to the nut on the bolts.

The feaking nut is an odd shape, my needle nose pliers are too short and I cant get a socket to grab.

What were they thinking?

Why are you taking the lower off? I had the same bike with the same pipe, and i didn't have to remove it for the install.

There should be no reason to remove the lower fairing...you prob will need to remove the right side floor board though.

Thanks for the help guys.  I used a 7/16 socket.

I did think I could have got the header off and on without removing the lower but it made it easier.

Thanks again.

Exactly what he said - no need to pull the lower fairing to install headers.  It might make for easier access, but not required.
