"Lifters were upgraded in MY2013"

Still trying to determine who makes the upgraded lifters. I removed them from my 2014 CVO RK at 300 miles and installed S&S Premium. Like bakon I had an earlier SE lifter fail, $5000 worth of carnage, so highly leery. If proven to hold up, I'll replace the "C" with them in my 2015 RG before I get too many miles on it.

S&S premium lifters will allow you to sleep well.

Hi all, interesting if very worrying thread. I have a 2011 flhtcuse6 with just over 9000 miles on it. After reading this and other posts on the same issue I am going to get the lifters and cam bearings changed. Can anyone tell me the new part numbers for both the new lifters and dearings and which make you'd all go for.

Cheers, Rod.

If you're looking for Harley part numbers Rod, just go back to my previous post.  IMHO you would be better off going with the S&S Premium lifters.  The full complement inner bearings are available from many sources, not just Harley.

Btw, the 2011 and 2012 models seem to be the ones with the biggest problem, so making these changes is definitely a good idea in your case.

Hi, I've delved into the S&S catalogue and the lifters are given as PREMIUM HIGH PERFORMANCE TAPPETS. The catalogue gives this as part of the description :-

"S&S Premium High Performance Tappets are available with or without the S&S HL2T limited travel kit installed. With the close tolerance and low leak down rate of these lifters, the main benefit of the limited travel kit is to improve starting for engines not equipped with S&S Easy Start Cams"

My question is this; Do I need the limited travel kit? Also do I even need the "Premium High Performance Tappets" ? or would the S&S "TAPPET SET" suffice and would this need the limited travel kit?

Questions, Questions Questions................................Cheers all, Rod.

We use the Premiums w/o the limiters.

Stock valve springs on a CVO, S&S premiums and S&S Quickee pushrods is the go to here. Others may work fine also but S&S is hard to discredit.

And yes, we too have maintained the use of the OE springs on many occasions, in spite of the "sky is falling" cry that is out there in regards to those.
Very quiet engine operation afterwards.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I take it you recommend changing the inner cam bearings too.
As an aside and if you don't mind me asking, what would labour costs be to do the whole job?

All the best,

Rod.

Cheers for the info Scott.

Could you enlighten me as to what the "limiters" actually do?

Thanks, Rod.

My 09 SERG has 57k miles with original cam bearings and lifters. I'm going to install new Fueling lifters
Inner cam bearings seem okay but not sure??
Advice?
