Hi Jim,

I'm not the right guy to answer your question but I'm sure folks will step up. I do know that there have been cam bearing upgrades but I don't have details. You should be more specific about the year and model of your bike. I'm sure they'll want to know.

Also, there's a search function at the top right of the page. You can find a ton of info using it.

Welcome to the site!

Sorry....I have a 2013....I have been told that some people with older models were having problems -- as early as 18K....I'm at 20K.

Consider them an item to change when you are in there changing lifters as a proactive measure anyway. Use a full compliment heavy duty bearing and you won't have to change them again. I am trying to suggest a way to amortize the labor cost and get a little more bang for the dollar.

Yes, there were failures in some of the earlier 110's, along with failures of the lifter rollers.  Both items were upgraded in production for the 2013 model year.  I haven't seen any reports of failures of either component on the 2013 and later engines, at least so far.

Rampant issues with the inner cam bearings from 2000-up.
If your in the cam chest, straightforward job to pull the OE's and replace with a full-needle unit.

Full compliment bearings became standard  MY 2013. I am not aware of any lifter changes. Jerry don't they still use the -C lifter?

Lifters were upgraded in MY2013. I have 26,000 miles on mine. However I don't trust that the "upgrade" has fixed the issue. In a couple of weeks I am upgrading to 113 cubic inches and changing the lifters as part of that work. I will report back what the 2013 lifters look like when they are pulled out of the engine.

S&S 106-5929, cam install kit, is a $26 no brainer if you are in the cam chest.  I won't install a cam with out.  Crack it open just to do cam bearings.  Not on a 2013.

H-D changed the 110's to the new High Capacity SE lifter in 2013, with the beefier bearings for the roller.  That was the same time they also switched to the full complement inner cam bearings.

My CVO is a 2013. It is very noisy at 7k miles. I will be pulling it down for inspection this summer. Thanks for the update!

First 110, but I did have an old style SE lifter fail on a set of .650 lift, Woods 400g cams and ruin them in 2009. Swore off SE lifter then, but looks like these are something new...

S&S lifters are our stocking items here, in both standard and premium T/C as well as Evo sets.
