Fournales Shocks
« on: February 11, 2015, 08:52:48 AM »

Has anyone put Fournales shocks on their rushmore tourers? If so what front end did you match them with? Very interested to hear any opinions.

They are very popular down under and I am surprised I couldn't find anything via search on here.

Cheers Tom

Never heard of them (that doesn't mean anything LOL)!

Since the front of the Rushmore Bikes is already "beefed up" you might want to try an adjustable set of rear shocks, play with them for a while and determine if you really need spend money on the front???

See you soon!!!

Looks like a French company (based on their homepage) with importers for the US via the UK.  I had not heard of that brand but read up a bit on them.  If I were you, Tom, I'd look for a product sold and serviced and that's easier to obtain in the US.  Even though the Fournales are rebuild-able (according to their website), getting the parts shipped OR shipping them back for rebuild OR service in the states for these may not be worth the effort than going with, say, Progressive/Arnott/Ohlins/etc.  Plus, there's plenty of information on those I listed along with other suspension options here on the forum.

Of course if you have your heart set on the Fournales, you could be the guinea pig for the rest of us in the US for all things Fournales..... :2vrolijk_21:

I had them on my softail for years. They did work  work well but required quite a bit of maintenance. I personally would pick something else after having them.

I still run a set on my 1980 FXB Sturgis. Installed them in '95. No issues. Not the answer for your application but I would consider them on my CVO.

No solid plans on Fournales Heat just wondering why they have no press on here. Had them and liked them a lot but will give the stock ones a go first. Then I would probably lean towards hd adjustable to start with so as to have best chance of front and back playing nicely as a wise person says.
Very much looking forward to visiting with y'all

Haird the ones I had previously were in Australia easy to get and service if required. I didnt need it in 5 years so I think they are robust. They are also half the price in the US! Also they have free shipping in US

No rush and will look at options. appreciate the replies

The beauty of the states is there is so much choice and so many folks with first hand experience to learn from. Love it.

Guys, I know I am a late arrival but for those still chasing info on the Fournalse bagger shocks here goes.
My bike is a 2007 FLHTCUSE2 the ride and handling was pretty ordinary so I installed a set of Fournales 13.5" on rear and a set of Ricor inertia activated valves and 5w oil in front forks. This sorted out 90% of the problems. The Fournales are an air shock with mechanical top out spring and oil damping, the system works very well on the ultra. My set have done 55000 kls. I am in Aussie land and have done 76,000kls on the bike on very rough roads. They said they will do at least 150,000 kls before needing a rebuild, this i will have to wait and see. I do some two up with the misses on the back and also tow a camper trailer, a rather heavy camper at a bit over 300 Kilos or 670 lbs.

Thanks Bluey, you've got to love those Aussie roads mate. I have gone with HD premium adjustable to match in with the front end. We'll see how it goes.
