Hi Kcbike,
Land speed racing in California is at El Mirage Dry Lake in the Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Country. Here is a link to the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA).
http://www.scta-bni.org/home.htmlHow I got involved in this is through my coworkers who run at El Mirage and drag me along... Now I want to play too.
The record for a MPG-1650 bike is around 180 MPH!!!, I will be extremely happy if I run 115 MPH, this is on dirt.
I live close to El Mirage only an hour and 15 minutes away, so why not go racing!!! A full season of racing puts about 10 racing miles on the bike, so I cant justify a full on race bike, this is why I'm building a dual purpose bike with some minor goals for myself like seeing how fast you can go on a basic stage one 96 incher. The bike mods are high end suspension and brakes with a basic race prep on the chassis (all new engine mounts, swing arm pivot, wheel bearings, bla-bla on and on) with plenty left to do...
I will continue to document the chassis in the Wheels, Tires, Suspension, Brakes, Section of the forum.
Best Wishes: Mike
