Another question for Kitzmiller
« on: January 03, 2007, 05:50:38 PM »

John, this is something I'd asked once a long time but just realized it had fallen between the cracks and never received a response.  Not having any problem at all so this is just a "planning ahead" type of question.

The autotune kit's oxygen sensors.  Is there a common automotive application for them?  Something that if one were to have a sensor fail on the road somewhere that could be picked up at an auto parts store?

Under normal circumstances don't have any compunction at all about buying replacement parts from you and waiting a day or three on delivery.  But if there's an option to speed up potential failures a long way from home it would be handy to know about.

It's a Bosch sensor.  I don't have the number in front of me, but it's a fairly common one used on late Volkswagens.

It's easy to miss one of these as it fades back in time.  So just popping it back up.  When it's convenient please let us know if you were able to find that OE application or part number.  Just something to note and carry with the travel info.

Thanks John.  I'd visited a local parts store and found (before I stopped looking) two different part numbers with the same style connector.  So a simple match wasn't successful.

Should anyone with a T-Max and Autotune combination be looking for one of these take note of the following:

VW part number is 021-906-262-B

Application information is:

Audi
TT FWD 2000-02

Volkswagen
Golf 1.8T, VR6 1999-04
Jetta 1.8T, VR6 1999-04
Jetta Wagon 1.8T, VR6 2001-04

The prices can vary wildly.  The Bosch part number I just found at O'Reilly's for as much as $200.00, Autozone for $130-something and a few others in between.  The VW part number in North America is sometimes also as expensive but some places much much cheaper.  Was only screwing around looking for 5 or 10 minutes but this place online offers the same piece for $50.00:

http://www.pap-parts.com/prodinfo.asp?number=021%20906%20262%20B

And here was another for only $38.00.  If one were really concerned about failure that's cheap enough to carry a spare since none of the local parts stores actually kept one in stock.

Five year old thread so none of the links previously cited to any store's inventory and prices are at all current.  The Bosch 17014 part number still is though.  If that's what you were looking for....
