It's easy to blame the carriers, since we've all seen the video's of the delivery folks throwing packages around and even an occasional clip from inside one of the sorting facilities where stuff isn't exactly handled with kid gloves either, but ultimately much can be laid directly back to the folks packaging the parts for shipment. Cheap packaging insufficient to protect the contents is something I see all the time.
Btw, if this was shipping damage, I would have expected the container to be obviously damaged, or the parts loose in the box to bang against each other. No mention was made of damage to another part in the shipment. To me, this looks much more like damage created in the vendors process, not shipping. While you could force the issue with them, based on what others have reported in the past when trying to work with this company the advice to have a quick weld and fly cut repair locally will likely get you up and running a heck of a lot sooner, with fewer spikes in blood pressure.
