i often see folks correctly point out that if you hire a good lawyer you can force them to cover bits and pieces of warranty work - while voiding bits and pieces of warranty work..  not a word of which is true in respect to esp. with esp - modify , put three rounds in and pull the trigger thats your odds.

from my point of view - if i have to hire a lawyer - its already a totally sucking proposition, I'm wasting time, not rinding, possibly my bike is stuck in limbo while i make payments - its going to really and truely suck.

and unless it totally blew up and i, in the end, get a totally new engine i won't even make up my lawyer bill.

so - the real choice is : know the warranty may be void and not care - or leave it stock

the only reason i ever say anything about the warranty issue is folks will often be blindly led to buy lots of stuff thinking that if it goes south they will be covered by warranty and get really hurt in the deal.  those with the financial wherewithal to cover a blown engine on a new bike and not have it bother them are not getting hurt if the warranty is denied. but those who will be hurt if the warranty is blown when the engine blows need to KNOW what they are getting into and not be led down the primrose path.

the even more important caveat is for those new and misled new buyers that buy esp and then completely void it before it leaves the showroom floor. those folks NEED to be warned that for esp it really should be almost completely stock or keep the esp money in the bank for repair costs.

my personal experience purchasing new bikes in ames iowa in the 70's, springfield oregon in the 80's and recently in the twin cities is that about half the salesman are complete LIARS and they will sell the unsuspecting a new bike, esp, and put cams, tune, and pipes in it and send them out the door laughing all the way to the bank. the other half are really decent folks who are honest.

pointing out the particulars of magnusson is really useful for the person who just found out there dealer has stiffed them but royal, and that person has the stomach for a legal fight -   but for most folks its a snipe hunt. if hd refuses they are out either the money or the bike and its sucks - for those folks we all owe them some truth.. the truth is don't wave the red flag in front of the bull if you don't have the time or money to win.

Okay here's the details that I got today when I went to see the dealer.  They put a Power Commander V and the Rhinehart True Duals.  They did put the proper map in the PC to make it run as well as it can until they can dyno tune it at the 1,000 miles service.  After spending some time with the owner and the tech that does the dyno tuning I left with a little better feeling about their abilities to have everything set up correctly.

I will report again once I can actually ride it to see if it's running correctly and then again on how it runs after being dyno tuned.

Another thing.  Is it worth the time hassle to try to sell the original exhaust?

Thanks again to all that responded
