Having real trouble deciding on an head pipe and exhaust for my new FLHXSE. I'm not looking for the ultimate performance, but I don't want to lose any. I'm picky about looks, want a deep rumble, good quality. The bike will be brought to and tuned by my dealer (SE tuner, the PRO one is the one I see, and I get a free dyno to go along with it).
I really like the looks of the V+H Dresser Duals, and have affinity for the Monster Rounds, or Rinehart 4" (with chrome tip). Not interested in the 4.5" mufflers, and I don't like the stepped look of the HO Mufflers. However, reading around, it sounds like the DDs may be really, really loud and can actually sap power (again, doesn't have to be max power, but looking to only go UP from stock, not down). Are the V+H Power Duals that much better? I dislike the big, blocky crossover on the right side.
I don't like the Rinehart Extreme or Classic Duals head pipe routing, the Slimline are nice, but again, a big blocky "look at me" on the right side of the bike where the pipes go parallel.
I could go Fuel Moto Jackpot headpipe, and I've had good experiences with them in the past, just looking to do something "different", plus using the stock heat shields provide no visual change at all (which is both good and bad). Then run any slip-on I want. I had the 4" slash up Jackpots on my last bike, and I try not to do the same thing over and over, but those were nice pipes. Just not sure the slash up would work with the CVO's rear very well, the pipe would just disappear, and I don't care for slash downs, nor their E-series or Pro Touring mufflers. I know, picky...
Lastly, I don't want to modify my stock parts, I like the ability to return the bike to stock if needed. So I don't want to rip cores/baffles out of the stock mufflers, or the cat out of the stock header.
Thanks for reading, and any thoughts. Might finally get to ride it this weekend, going to be all of 40, but Sunny, in New Hampshire these days, that's about as good as I can hope for. Will be able to give my new heated gear a go...
