I've always gone full systems, but after hearing a CVO Road Glide with just these slip ons, it sounded good enough.

It's like lipstick on a pig.
If sound is all you are about go for it.
If you want a more efficient system that makes power, cools off the motor, gets better fuel mileage then do the entire system.

you will like them more with a full system.  I had them on my bike with stock header until I got my DX pipe, they are louder and the bike runs better without the cat.

Nicky, I have 3k miles on mine now. First 500 with stock, 1500 with the Rinehart slip-ons, and now another 1000+ with the DX pipe, and TTS tuner with map from Steve. There was a huge difference in performance after the DX pipe, TTS and map. Seriously. On the other hand, if you ride with a full-face helmet it will absolutely drive you crazy with reverberation. Half helmet and it is perfect for me and the reverb is gone and sounds perfect. Can here the music great and everything. I think it has to do with the 4". My older bike has true dual bub7's and is loud, but has smaller diameter and does not do the full-face helmet reverb. That's my theory anyway!

I only used to wear the full-face on the freezing Winter rides since the wind hits me right in the forehead. I just picked up another half helmet with a drop down small sun-shield but changed it to a clear one and will use it for those rides. Done with the $700 Arai full-face. The things you do for performance, comfort, and sanity. :)
