New Shoes
« on: April 06, 2015, 05:12:27 PM »

I'm sure this one has come up before, but my new (to me) 05 SEEG has warn out the Dunlop it came to me from the dealer with.  I suspect that I'm opening an endless discussion equivalent to the old Ford vs Chevy arguments, but I am hopeful of a recommendation for a tire that will give me more than the 7400 miles since last October when I bought it.

Or is that just what I should find reasonable, and live with it.

Thanks,

Wayne

'Switched over to the Michelin Commander IIs on the '05 SEEG. 'Have about 8-9k on them so far, wearing perfectly with plenty of tread left. When it comes time to replace, I will go with the CIIs again.

I used to get +- 11k out of the rear (stock) Dunlops, 2 rears to 1 front.

i know that i'm limited to dunlops only with my 2013.  not sure what size tires yours came with, but i would check the dunlop elite 3s.  i used those on a previous bike, a 2007 roadking.  had almost 20,000 miles on them when i traded the bike in and they were in good enough shape that the dealer didn't change them out before putting the bike up for sale.  handled great as well.  if the elite 3s don't come in your size, perhaps the american elites do?
