"I was hoping they would find metal in the case, so I would get new motor"

If the rollers have flat spots there's metal....everywhere. The oil tank/pan needs to be removed and thoroughly cleaned. I had a SE lifter go bad, a friend and myself took everything apart, how I know.

metal in the pan =metal throughout the whole motor, main bearings, cam bearings, rockers, etc. If I was going to keep the bike, the motor would be dis-assembled, new or rebuilt crank assembly, pistons, S&S lifters, new cams and bearings, flush everything.

My cam chain tensioners were barley worn. But get this. Got the bike back have put 300 miles on it and it is now starting to smoke and it smells funny. Guess there was more stuff in the case than dealer thought. I am a lover of the esp......but...... I will never understand the theory behind it. Now what do I do. Take it back or ride the hell out of it. All of this could of been avoided if dealer would do there job. :soapbox:

Tough call. If you don't have any big trips coming up ride it until it blows otherwise take it back lol.

Might not be the dealer. ESP may be starting to force dealers  "to not fix what's not broken yet", which may end up costing them more in the long run

They have never fixed what it not broken. I had to pay for dealer to break open my motor to find the problem. I had to pay a hours labor so tec could ride the bike to here the noise. LOL He agreed he could here it but could do nothing without me paying the labor to find it. Then esp paid the claim. I didn't even get the factory pushrods' I had to settle for adjustable ones. I know it was faster to do it that way but come on.

Bingo.  I think you hit the nail squarely on its head.  IMO they want to get you out of the shop as cheaply as possible and worry about a more extensive problem/failure down the road when it occurs.  Maybe you'll sell the bike first or the ESP will run out before anything else happens.  They are just playing the odds and you are sure to not win.

Yup it will cost them more in the end.
