My baby went on a diet...lost her junk in the trunk!
« on: April 10, 2015, 11:50:03 PM »

When I decided to buy a new HD a few years ago, I was looking to buy a Street Glide CVO. I knew I wanted a bagger, already  previously had a RK and way back a RG.

No one had one in stock and I ended up purchasing my beautiful Ultra CVO. I rarely travel long distances and don't use the tour pack so it was envitable I would take it off one day.

That day was yesterday!

After adding the Fullsac exhaust, I decided it was time to lighten the load out back. Opted not to do the quick detach kit. Not a fan of the brackets. Figured on the rare occasion I was going to take a trip, it's 20 minutes, a few bolts and plugs then it's back on.

I relocated the amp temporarily in the right side bag. Will likely upgrade it soon and then move it to the fairing when I add in lower fairing speakers one day.

Bought a hidden antenna that's also temporarily in the bag until it goes in the fairing.

Without the rack, I didn't like the look of the chrome strut covers with the cutouts so bought a set of take offs from a dealer. Picked up a new Street Glide seat from them as well.

Scored a tailight locally on CL without the clear window on top for $25. Sweet!

Lastly, picked up the HD chrome license plate frame to finish it off. I know it covers part of the CVO emblem but I'm ok with it. At some point maybe I will move it down an inch.

I LOVE the look and can't believe how better it handles without the extra 55lbs back there. Add in the extra ponies with the new exhaust and she's like a totally different bike!

When I get home after a long trip the first thing I do is yank the tour pak off. It's a completely different bike.

Having said that I love having the pak. My wife and I travel a lot.

Bike looks great. Time for the cvo extended bags and fender? Hehe

Thats a good looking '12 w/o the TP. Didn't think that color would look good as a SG, but it does. Congrats. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks! I'm thinking about doing the extended fender/bags. Found a set of factory stretched bags for a decent price and the fender kit is $800. Going to see about finding a good custom paint shop and see what it will cost to duplicate my paint scheme.

Never know! :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks!

It's one of those polarizing colors. I wasn't looking for a yellow bike at the time however in hindsight, I have always been drawn to the color. My Ski Doo sleds were yellow and black as was my '72 Chevelle so that mix must do something for me.  :bananarock:

I had bought a mat black bike originally and when a I got it home, my wife in her wisdom was like, "No one will see you at night! You need a brighter color that reflects!"

Wow, that really looks good.  I have been considering trading my 08 in for the 12 in this color.  I love the yellow, but then again, I might be biased.

I have always liked yellow and especially when it's complimented with black!  :2vrolijk_21:

Ha! It's funny how directions can change.

When I decided to move up from my Deuce to a bagger it really didn't want a bike with a tour Pak. I thought the box was just a silly idea. I figured if the wife and I could travel 2 weeks on a Deuce who would need the box.

Well, I now own a Streetglide with a box. Who knew? ;D

Yep, that ugly box comes in handy on a long trip, pretty easy to have both worlds now!
