Zumo 665 Pairing with IPhone 6 Plus
« on: April 27, 2015, 08:08:15 PM »

With my IPhone 4S when ever I started the bike my Zumo 665 would pair on its own with the phone. I now have the IPhone 6 Plus and the phone will not pair with my Zumo automatically like the old IPhone did. I now have to go into MY DIVICES and click on the 665 and punch in the code.

The IPhone 6 Plus will pair automatically with my car.

Is there something I need to do to get this new phone to pair on its own?

Thanks.

The IPhone 6 is not compatible with the Garmin 660 series GPS.

You can check the compatibility list at the Garmin web site.

Just wondering if anyone got this problem to work. My buddy got the 665 and he has the IPhone 6 (not plus) and his connects and works fine. Just wondering if there is something I need to delete or add to make mine connect automatically. I see that there is a post that says it is not compatible but the IPhone 6 and 6 plus are the same phone except for the larger screen and my buddy has his working fine. All he did was pair it and that's it.  :nixweiss:

My iphone 6 seems to work fine. Displays calls as they come in....phone book...recent calls/dialed. I don't use it to talk on the phone.....it's just nice to see who's calling....sometime I have calls I need to know about but HAVE to go for a ride!

To get it to pair initially....you have to go through the 'pairing sequence'....then it'll automatically hook up each (almost) time the phone is near the 660. Sorry...can't remember the 'pairing sequence' anymore.

Are using a Bluetooth headset as well or just the Harley's speakers?
If using a Sena headset, there's another option for psiting

Nope. All on it's own.

Yes. It will do all this except automatically hook up each time. For mine to pair I have to go though the pairing sequence which is to push find me on my phone then enter the numbers 1234 and it will pair but once I turn off the bike for it to pair I have to do it all over again.

I have deleted both form each device and tried repairing as if they are new and just found each other but still no luck. They just will not pair automatically.

Two things to try:
Rather than go through the whole process, try turning off the  Bluetooth on the phone and then right back on. This should force it to "search" for a device.
Alternatively turn the GPS off and on. I don't pair phone to GPS but I do pair the headset to the iPhone; a SM10 xmittter; the 665 and all three usually pair if I turn them on or cycle power in the same minute or so.

Also, when they are paired look in the iPhone settings see if it names the GARMIN in there or does it say "generic HFP"?

Yes, I have tried the on/off search process. When it pairs it says zumo665 and the unit id number.

I became a member of ZumoForums and did some research. There was a thread which one person said to save all your favourites and then do a "Master Reset". Then pair it again. Sounds promising. I will try it when I get some time and let you all know.

you shouldn't have to jump through such hoops.  I know my 660 pairs just fine without me having to do anything.

hope the reset squares you away.

Good to hear a 6s pairs ok. I just got a 660 with the traffic antenna harness. Does anyone have that? I have no instructions for it but it has like and Android type plug that connects to the harness. Is that powered from the main GPS power harness? And can you run that under the tank and get the FM reception it requires?
Thanks
