Bad front cylander on 2015 CVO Street Glide
« on: May 07, 2015, 11:03:50 PM »

Any body.. had any probs with there bike misfiring??  I have the new (9500 miles ) 2015 CVP Street glide and on a ride today cruising the freeway at about 90 + bike starts running extremely ruff... I down shifted and knocked it back to normal running. Got to my destination let it sit for about an hour. cranked it to go some where and it immediately was running very rough again .. I happened to be at a HD dealer so I put it in the shop.. Later that day I get a call from dealer telling me that there are 2 funny noises coming from the from cylinder and that HD corp has authorized the dealer to break the engine apart and see whats up... I hope I get an answer tomorrow as to whats wrong.. Any body else have any issues like this?? :-\

9500 miles? According to Harley that's worn out  :nixweiss:

Sorry for your troubles. I had an exhaust valve stick open at 18K not fun.

I have about that many miles and no problems.  I am anxious to know what is going on with yours as I sure you are!

Have a good suspicion it is valvetrain related, albeit in the cam chest or the cylinder head.

That just stinks. Did they give you an estimate on the turn around?

Might want to ask a few more questions.....like what exactly, do they mean by "new engine".

The crank scissored on my 2010 CVO Street Glide at 30,000 miles.  They told me that I was getting a new motor.  After further inquiry (based on another member's suggestion just as I'm suggesting to you), I learned that it's all new flywheels with the same cases, heads, etc.  It all worked out for the good though.  The dealership that did the work let me take the new flywheels to get pinned and welded and balanced. :2vrolijk_21:  Of course I had to pay for that additional work out of my pocket.

This sounds to me like an opportunity to install the 120 ST....

The last 2 120R's we've had in here, have had sissored cranks.............all better now and then some, but nonetheless buggered upon intial measurement.

And Alan (SDCVO) 120 just went south also Greg.  And that has been since our group ride from Cooks Corner and Hells Kitchen.

And didn't Terry (Rooster) have problems with his awhile back?  There seems to have been a few 120s recently that aren't holding up.  I'd be pretty upset if I spent that kind of coin on a motor and then it still goes south.

One of the hardest things for me when I sold my 10 SESG was letting that motor go just after I had the crank pinned, welded and balanced.  That motor just felt so much smoother, much more power and just solid.....felt like it could put up with my spirited style of riding.  I'd rather put the money into doing this on a 110, the cams, headwork, etc. than to spend a bucket load of $$ on a 120 then have it go south.  jussayinzall

Pretty sure Terry's was a JIMS 120, not a MOCO 120r....

You guys are scaring me. No more talk about about bad 120 cranks until after I get this one installed and dynoed!

Yes, this one's going in my bike finally, but not before it gets a Tman 660SM cam, beehive springs and a .030 head gasket first. Steve Cole has the cam plate, he's doing a new mod to the by pass plunger to make it seal tight on the seat to boost oil pressure at idle. Crank was pretty tight at .002. This motor was the 120ST version so it came with a 58TB and 5.3 injectors for the same price as
the 120R. It should rip pretty good.
