Reusing 110 Stock Cylinder
« on: May 18, 2015, 02:24:39 PM »

So, if I wanted to bore out to 113, would I need to upgrade the fuel system and cams as well or could I just bore, and buy a kit.. bolt on and go?
Thank you

You can and many do bore out the standard 110 cylinders to 4.060 to make 113, just done it myself.

But would suggest you sort the crank out also, trued with S&S crank pin, also change the case to Timken bearing,

Otherwise your just storing up trouble for the future.

By increasing the swept volume of the engine, you will arbitrarily increase the compression.
Cam swap would be recommended.

Makes total sense. I think I am just going to save my cash and ride it for a bit.  Then in the fall, early winter, send it away for a complete rebuild.  Everything!
And of course, then sell it next year and start all over..LOL

If you simply had a ring problem, scoring or piston issue, the case could be made that you *COULD* just pull the top, bore .060, select pistons made for your desired CR and put it back together and ride.
Certainly, the while-you're-in-there line of thinking begs for more, but it's walk along a steep cliff. You'll know you've fallen over when you are splitting cases "just because"... and then, of course, why not 124?

So, the real question is WHY...are you considering the bore job? If the purpose is a repair as above, certainly you could simply do this.
IF, on the other hand, you want to upgrade performance, there are LOTS of things you can do to accomplish a LOT MORE performance upgrade without ever pulling the jugs.

I hear ya Surly!  I was merely curious.  Im not a huge HP monster (well taking off hard is fun), but a smooth running engine with minimal WTF is desirable in any spectrum.  I haven't even made up my mind that I am keeping this one as well.  SO, It really was just curiosity.  As far as I know, there isnt anything wrong with the engine, but there never really is until something breaks!  LOL...I do want to find a Dyno here in town that will do a pass or so, and just tell me what the numbers are.  No adjustments, no changes, just A/F ratio and HP and TQ.  I dont really want to tear down at the beginning of the riding season, if you know what I mean.

Cam + 113 kit ( we would bore your stock cylinders)  is a great build even with stock heads. I would suggest on your bike guides and springs. Still easy on the budget and the tq curve with a mild cam is impressive to say the least. Add a T/B to the mix will increase hp by 6-8 with the stock heads and the gain will be in the 4400+ rpm range. The tq curve will also pull out further on the right side slightly .

Look at some of my older post good back to back data showing how well the 113 does with a small cam and stock heads and stock t/b with several ex systems.

So how much does something like this cost Steve?  And can I do most of the work myself?  Of course I would have to send the heads out, and likely I would have to buy and actual tuner instead of the V&H FP as well I am guessing.
Thanks

Well the heads had some issue with guide fitment on the early 110.

Head work ( new guides media clean, cc  chambers ( light skim cut only .005) bee hive springs , valve job on Newen CNC machine .

113 kit compression can range from 9.7 with our flat top  piston kit & .040 HG to 10.8 with the dome piston & .030 ( all based on 95 cc chamber)

If you do not plan on installing a larger t/b or porting the heads in our kits I would suggest the 577.  ( 114 hp and 125 + tq) with stock heads.

Tuner wise you have some options Being that your bike is a 07 it runs 18 MM sensors so  a PV with AT 100 would be one option for you to tune the bike your self. I would suggest a TTS and take the bike to Roeders in Toledo OH and let them tune or to Jason in IL if you do not want to tune it yourself.

Yes the set up is easy enough to install on your own.

IF you decide to us our shop give me a call be happy to put it together as a kit. along with your CVO discount.
