OBB I have been working to much overtime to get bike back to the dealer. Navistar is closing the Fort Wayne test track so we are working tons of overtime to get our work done so the company can put all of us out of a job at the end of July.

just found out today there is a new software update 1.19.01. I was at the dealership and asked if there was a way to be alerted when an update became available. They said Harley doesn't even tell them. Just so happened that when I asked they said an update came out 2 days ago. It would be nice if they let us know instead of having to constantly check the Harley website

Just checked the website again. It's still at .0,,, as mentioned in a previous post, the I looks a lot like a 1 to give the appearance of .01

I have a feeling there will be lots of updates to come on these radios. Fix one thing, screw up another...

I'm starting to think they should make them smaller and deal with one issue for each update..  i.e.: have one download for the AVC issue.  One download for the XM-AM switching problem some people have, etc....  I seems that these large, complete system downloads are just too much to upload and that is where the problem may be...  my .02 cents today..

Took mine out yesterday, it didn't have the switching problem but now it wouldn't recognize the USB drive that worked fine during the last ride. The AVC worked correctly though.

I wonder if doing a factory reset first and then loading the latest and greatest software would make any difference?  I have to believe they have a way to reset the system back to it's initial state.

As for some people seeming to believe the update fixed all their issues while others continue to report problems, and some indicating the update skipped over several of the individual steps and they were able to finally get it to run through all the steps after trying again, perhaps that is due to a corrupted existing file in the system, or just a poorly written install routine in the actual download.  I see the same thing with the monthly Microsoft downloads when I look at the history, some items install and others fail, then the ones that failed get installed the next time Microsoft pushes it out. :nixweiss:    Whatever it is, H-D needs to do better not only with the original software but also come up with a foolproof update process as well.  Not everyone is a computer geek.  And how hard would it be for them to let people set up automatic alerts with H-D sending emails letting them know about new updates?  Lots of companies do it, so it's not like they would have to invent something new.

Good points and suggestions Jerry. I'm pretty sure I read/seen a choice to reset to factory settings. Being able to sign up for an update alert would also be nice. Improvement in the update process or anything software/hardware related is always nice and possible. Making it foolproof (for everybody) I'm afraid is impossible. Not everyone has the same talents. Some people are quite capable at these sort of things, and others are not. Some know it and pay to have someone else do it. Same thing goes for a lot of things in life. Anyone who has taken a look at the CVO BOOM manual has to know they have packed that thing with so many features (trying to please EVERYONE) that it is a challenge to understand it. I guarantee it is also very challenging for the manufacturer to do in-depth QC testing of every feature and possible setting! At some point these things become a monster to maintain... like a lot of Microsoft software. They have an army of people maintaining and yet they still have their problems.
Anyway, we are leaving on an overnighter on the bikes and I will try to test as many "features" as possible and report back what I discover.

Took mine out yesterday, it didn't have the switching problem but now it wouldn't recognize the USB drive that worked fine during the last ride. The AVC worked correctly though.
BTW. I have a memory stick with my music installed in the USB port post-latest-update and it works fine.

Rob, this latest one works great. AVC works as good or better than any I have ever experienced. They added some hi-def screen colors, not anything I want but if you like white background they are there and easy to see. I have ridden every night this week since installing it and I am glad I did it.
Before I was getting the lack of volume intermittedly and no AVC unless I reset it everytime I started the bike and both problems are fixed. Also my phone connects every time now vs sometimes before.
Try it, you'll like it.

How about the display? I noticed today that even on manual it Got too dark to see when it got cloudy/rainy, almost like it was auto dimming for nighttime.

At one stop my radio and nav had no volume, no volume widget appeared on the screen.  Next stop it all worked.  I got home and did this upgrade and so far so good, but it only happened once since last upgrade so who knows.  Does anyone still have the upgrade before the last?   was it 18.1?

I was able to do the upgrade and the first half of my ride today everything worked great, even the AVC. Then out of nowhere my screen goes completely blank, I mean nothing. Bike keeps working just fine. Then about 2 minutes later screen starts to boot up. and now the AVC does NOT work. I could find no other issues after the blank out except the AVC. Go figure. I am confused.
