I have a 2015 CVO Street Glide.    Has 500 miles on it.   Trailered 1000 miles for a move.   Went to start the bike and it was dead.  Put the battery tender on it and it will charge.   When I trailered the bike I did not disable alarm but left the FOB with the bike in the trailer so alarm would not go off.   Now the bike will not start and the battery will not charge.  When I tried to start you could hear the starter clicking but there was not enough juice to start.  I have trailered the bike a few other times.   Help!

If the battery is completely discharged, a battery tender isn't likely to bring it back (tenders are only meant to maintain a charge).  You need a higher output charger to hopefully recover the battery.  I personally use a 10 amp charger for that purpose, you could use anything up to about 30 amps as long as you monitor the process and don't let the battery overheat.  If it still won't take a charge, see the dealer for a warranty replacement.

I'm far from being an expert, but thanks.  I guess you could say I'm a bit of a jack of all trades but master of none.  Degree in automotive engineering and about 35 years experience in many different jobs related to automotive service and manufacturing/quality control are my official "qualifications".  Wrenching on all my own stuff from the age of 16 also gave me some first hand busted knuckles experience as well.  I'm just a curious (you can take that a couple different ways) guy who has always enjoyed learning stuff, and taking stuff apart to see how it works.

That's one thing you have to say for a engineer.  One person that actually works on things and gets dirty and does design.  Sad they all don't do that.   They think it looks good on paper but in the real world it just doesn't work properly.  I really enjoy and reading what Jerry writes.  He also puts it into words that people can understand.   Many thanks to you Jerry.

Jerry you've got a hell of a reputation.  The first time somebody can prove you're wrong there's going to be a huge deflation on this forum......kind of like somebody sucked all the air out of the room.

Echo the recognition and compliments for Jerry. Being curious by nature is usually an indicator of a bright mind but what I see here is a person that consistently leverages that intellectual hp to uncover the root cause of an issue and in turn provide us forum members with thoughtful, researched and commonly verified content. Went to auto zone and bought a battery charger and let the battery charge.  VOILA!! Thanks grc!
