A while back Harley released a detuned version of their 120R crate motor, the 120ST. With a claimed 104 HP it was reviewed
with laughter from many on this forum and a few others. I had been wanting to upgrade our 2012 CVO shop bike with a 120R. I noticed for the same money, the 120ST came with a 58 SE throttle body with 5.3 injectors. It also came with the 259E cam instead of the big 660 lift. Not being a fan of either cam it made sense to me to go with the ST version and get the throttle body. So I pulled the trigger, it showed up as promised 58TB and 5.3 injectors. Just to be on the safe side, removed the heads, pulled a valve spring and ran a pressure test just to be assured there were no surprises or issues with bolting in a Tman 660SM. Everything checked out, just like the 120R, 183 pounds on the seat and 497 at 660 lift. bolted in the Tman, a set of SE +.030 solid pushrods and let her rip! Got just what I was after, big TQ early! 100 FT pounds at 2K and 125 FT pounds at 3K. Hard deal to beat for less than 6K.
The details and the results!
