We settled into Sturgis and began to plan our days. 

First on the map – “The Presidents Heads” as one of the krewe called it!

Mt. Rushmore is visited by over three million people each year and for good reason.  Many of them were there during Sturgis Bike Week.

As you walk towards the memorial you are surrounded by the state flags.

Ladies and Gentlemen of CVO Harley I present to you “The Presidents Heads”!

Mount Rushmore features 60-foot sculptures of the heads of four United States presidents: George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865).

Between October 4, 1927, and October 31, 1941, Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers sculpted the colossal 60 foot high carvings of U.S. presidents to represent the first 130 years of American history.

Around the corner so to speak we have the Crazy Horse Memorial.

Custer is generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming.

Gold was found there during the 1874 Black Hills Expedition, conducted by the 7th Cavalry led by Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer, a discovery which initiated the Black Hills Gold Rush.
