Time has swept by fast here and the darkness is around the corner…

This roadside attraction has certainly grown in popularity since I found it years ago.  Well worth the time and visit if you are in the area.

Perhaps you too will walk away thinkin’ that you just journeyed into a space that is special along with the folks that made it.

After leaving Bishop’s Castle it was time to take some backroads to Pueblo, CO where I would be spending the night for my next location.

Day Five | Pueblo, CO – Great Sand Dunes NP – Manitou Springs, CO | 375 miles

It’s day five and I am looking forward to sinking into the highest mountains of sand in North America. 

[Jock]

This my friends is a sandox of epic proportions, the entire dune field encompasses 30 square miles and the tallest dune towers 750 feet high!

[Jock]

However on this day that would not happen!  According to a gentleman at the welcome sign, who had just departed the park, this would be a 1-1/2 hour wait to get to the entrance gate.  He tried the day before with no success and returned today as was near the gate at 8:00am.

Time to place my traffic control skills to work and get the heck out of Dodge.

This would need to take place on another visit!

I guess ‘the nineteen” has taken its total on folks and they are ready to GET OUT!

Upon leaving the Great Sand Dunes National Park, I felt a gravitation towards Hooper, CO for some reason.  I found myself landing here!

The UFO Watch Tower

The unique location stands in the middle of the San Luis Valley.  Cattle rancher Judy Messoline built the elevated deck so she could connect with the visitors.

While visiting here I meant some new friends that momma ain’t gonna believe are here…

The surrounding property is littered with spacey tributes that have been gifted to her over the years.

[Jock]

One could spend plenty of time overlooking the wide array of leave behinds.

[Jock]

In the event of an invasion of aliens, we will be able to supply enough writing instruments for them to write home.

[Jock]

I got to visit with my new friend’s space craft!

Holy “Hey Nineteen”!  The aliens are even masked!
