Trailer's
« on: June 22, 2015, 12:31:45 AM »

After two years in a row of over 100 degree weather before & after our GTG's, I'm thinking very strongly about a new trailer, riding in our truck with AC is sounding better & better all the time, So here's the question  WHAT Trailer is everyone using looking at the (Aluma MC210) good bad or ??

Own the Aluma and love it.

Pro's
1. Light-weight, easy to move around by hand, not to mention tow.
2. Don't have to worry about paint fading, but you'll have to either live with oxidation or use aluminum cleaner to keep it shinny.
3. Our's came with Condor chocks which are great for holding the front end of the bikes.

Con's
1. Wife loves to load up more stuff in the truck than we ever would have if taking the bike.
2. Learn to laugh at the people who'll call you a trailer queen; who cares what they think anyway.
3. Another item to keep maintenance on for tags and tires.

Good luck.

Eric is right on the above.
I tried to talk Judy into a MC210 but she is stubborn.
I have a 7X14 Haulmark Lowhauler but love my Aluma.
I have the MC10 and it's the best trailer I have ever owned.
Tazmun just bought one and he loves his.
The 210 is just a 2 bike version of the 10.
Once you get wheel chocks on it Don loading is easy.
No tight quarters, it's a great trailer.
I towed the SERGC on the MC10 to Ribfest with the Platinum and the mileage went down 6/10's of a gallon.
Don you can't go wrong with the MC210. The Aluma line of trailers have a reputation as good as a Bushtec.
Good luck. Call me if you decide to buy one, there are some accessories that make it even better.

Having owned both enclosed and open trailers I would go for the open trailer whether its an Aluma or another. Something to be said about ease of use and keeping a visual on your bike.  As a plus you can use it for DIY projects around the house.  JMO

True, I have had small problems with the welds.

I'm starting to understand this, I pulled into Laughlin Nv. and it was 107, Paula & I said " We are getting to old for this crap "

A cage across the desert is looking better and better these days.  ;D

I'm still a rider on trips but as I get older, seeing those folks in the dry and/or cool confines of a cage pulling a trailer doesn't make me as upset as it once did.  Some of us'ns that still have a 9-5 (or 7-4) don't have the freedom of lots of vacation time so a trailer is the right option.  I've "experienced" my share of nature over the years/trips and still argue that it's the journey, not the destination.  That said, my trailer option would also be an open trailer with both the Kendon and Aluma options looking very nice... :)

And don't forget about riding in the cold, much nicer in a cage. But don't forget we ride our bikes because we "Love Live to Ride".

The cool/cold is my friend, Uncle Mike.  You can always put on layers in the cold but you can only take off so much and still be safe/legal in the heat.... ::)

I found the comments on open versus covered trailers interesting... It's been quite awhile since I trailered but have used both on Sturgis trips in years past. A covered trailer keeps everything clean, locked and out of sight.

Like Chip says, the Aluma MC trailers are great. I had a 2002 I bought new, kept it for 10 years and sold it for $100 less than I bought it for. I never had a weld issues. I wish I would have kept it, because getting older and hauling over the same roads to get to the GTG's and other areas I want to ride makes it so much easier. I bought another one.
