Stock pipes
« on: June 23, 2015, 02:31:25 AM »

I'm thinking of putting the stock pipes back on my 2008 springer. The Vance and Hines on now are to loud. I come home at all hours of the night, and I don't want to wake everyone up. The stock screaming eagle mufflers are too corked up and quiet. Has anyone tried altering theirs? I just want a better tone, plus the back pressure should make it run better. Any help would be great. Thanks

Search Fullsac here on the site. I haven't done it but lot of folks on the site have and are very happy.

Unfortunately, FullSac doesn't make baffles for the Springer cans.  I've used smartpartz.com Hard Kore Quiet baffles on other mufflers, and they work well to quiet them down.  Check their web site and select the V&H group, but if they don't show yours, they have a diagram where they show you how to measure your mufflers and baffles, and they can check that size against what they already make.  That's what happened with mine; I have some Kuryakyn/Crusher Mavericks, which they don't carry, but the quiet baffle they have for the Hard Krome 2.5" was a perfect fit.  Easy install and well made baffles that worked great. Oh, and Chris, who I spoke to several times there, is very helpful and knowledgeable.  Once in a while I had trouble understanding his Australian accent, but a great guy.

BTW, I had tried a set of Big City Thunder QQ quiet baffles for a different muffler, but I had to get the baffle that fits in the header.  Only removed about 10% of the sound, so wasn't nearly enough.
