Not too political. The OP dealt with the historic flag and the motor company treating it's use as some sort of racial thing. The general uproar is really just people trying to keep the fires of hatred burning.
A battle flag on a monument is historic. A battle flag in the hands of someone wearing his laundry over his head is hatred. Pretty simple concept for most reasonable people.
The dealer in this case is using his historic location for advertising and the company is being stupid. Now, if they were selling battle flag shirts with some disparaging slogan, that would be another matter.
Unfortunately, some hate groups have used the flag to scare people and that is a shame. Those groups have also used the Christian cross so I guess ISIS is going to be offended and the churches will have to remove them from the steeples. We as a country have to learn to respect other's opinion, heritage, and religion. If we continue this "political correctness" we are going to do ourselves in.
If only people would realize that, as long as they are scared of a symbol, people using it against them have power. When they ignore the symbol, it has no power. Kindergarten 101! It's never been the color of your skin but the color of your heart.
As for censoring the forum, I see very few here that are mean spirited. Opinionated, yes but everyone should be entitled to a civil opinion and discussion that's why there is "Other Topics". If things get rough and someone's feelings are hurt, I'm sure the moderator will step in.
