Mike, hadn't you heard, (facete mode = on) the recall parts kit is going to include a tub of bondo and some rattle cans.  :2vrolijk_21:

I Think I can work with the bondo Don, but those rattle cans might give me a fit!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!

I actually have a friend that has a 14 Blue SE Limited and he lost a bag. I need to call him tomorrow. I think he surfs around here but I have seen him post as of yet!!!!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Opossum.
My bike's on the list, so I'll have it done next Friday at my 1k service call.  If I still don't feel comfy with the fix, I'm going to bolts and u-nuts.

On a recent trip the front pin on the left side saddlebag kept falling out. It would'nt and will not "snap" back in. This was recommended by another member so I installed this for less than 10 bucks getting the parts at my local Lowe's hardware department.

5/16-18 U Nuts, 5/16 x 1 1/2 bolts, 4 lock washers and used the stock washers. No longer quick disconnect but they arent going anywhere now!

The part they're replacing isn't the pin, but the receptacle the pin is supposed to lock into.  Basically a spring clip.

Thanks!  I checked mien last night and everything is great. I may just replace this with bolts as suggested.

Went to my local dealer this morning, Chester's HD in Sunrise FL where I bought my bike from. Was in and out in 20 minutes with the saddle bag clip replacement. Service guy also offered to install the boom update while there. I told him I had already done it. But I did appreciate the offer.

I replaced mine with a kit called Bagger Bolts way before I heard about this recall. I never trusted the stock setup. I'm going to get the new parts to pass on if I ever sell or trade this bike, but I'm leaving the bolt kit installed.

Does anyone have a picture of the good part and the bad part for comparison, or A good explanation of the up grade would also be cool.

Didn't take pictures but the latest pin looks to be notched deeper for a better grip. Tech told me the rest of the hardware is made better also.

I took the day off of work, and figured I'd go get this recall done.  It literally to 3 minutes.  The recal parts were in a plastic bag and to make it even faster, I held the bags so they didn't have un plug the speaker/amp connectors.

The difference, the spring that the pin spins on to looks thicker.  They did not replace the pins.  Now, the pins are harder to rotate, and when they lock or when they are turned to unlocked, there is a very audible click.

I did the home depot u nuts and bolts. Took a few minutes on one because air input to rear suspension was actually in the way...didn't realize. Moved out of way, installed u nut and reinstalled. Feels much more secure than a 1/8 turn pin although I have never lost a bag in 12 years of riding with the pins. Used a knurled bolt with allen key in the middle, once worn in some I am hoping not to need the key.

Those of you who think they are replacing the pins with one that has a deeper notch.. They are NOT replacing the pins, only the spring retainer.
