My sister and her daughter both got miniature Greyhounds from a rescue group years ago and really loved those dogs!

I read the menu to my wife earlier, and that about sealed our fate.  We're eating there our next trip thata way!

And hey, the way I see it Don, it ain't which bike to take that's the problem...it's which pants to wear that allow for the most comfort on the way home after pigging out.  I sure do love me some good fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy!

Food = Good.  That's all the new common core math I need  ;D .

I've had several Italian Greyhounds over the years.  They are fun little dogs.  Had quite a few full sized Greyhounds over the years too.  Right now it's the pair of big'uns.  Nothing more relaxed than a relaxed Greyhound  :coolblue: .

Man oh man I'm looking forward to the Sunday food ride.....

Patty and I did a single overnighter from our place down to Mountain View, Arkansas this past Thursday and Friday.  The road conditions and temps were really great for the outing, and the bike ran like a fine-tuned Swiss watch.
Mountain Home is something like the Bluegrass/Gospel capital of Arkansas, and has some interesting shops around the town square, and it's really hard not to find a great biking road anywhere near there.  We had one of the best breakfasts we've ever had at the Rainbow Cafe just down from the county courthouse.  Saw a bunch of CVO's Thursday night who must've been heading north to Bikes, Blues, and BBQ in Fayetteville.
Highway 341 is a really awesome ride with about 1 hour of twisties, and...awe heck, it's ALL nothing but twisties and elevation changes down there, and we're blessed to live so close to such fine scenery!
We put about 300 miles on her in the one day we were gone, and now we're plotting our next outing, maybe to Memphis this time.
See the next post down for a couple of pics.
We passed each other! We rode to Mountain View on Friday, after spending the first part of the week in Bentonville. Rode through Eureka Springs, spent the weekend riding around Mountain View area. Awesome and Spectacular scenery and roads. Listened to the blue grass performers on the square in Mountain View, ate at the Rainbow Cafe, great grilled trout for dinner. Put this ride on your list, had a great time. And had little traffic as everybody was in Fayetteville😀

No foolin?   :D
We saw a bunch of CVO's in Mtn View that Thurs night gearing up for BBQ the next day.  I didn't get a chance to go talk to them, but now it makes me wish I had and makes me want to get some of our CVOHarley.org business cards to hand out!  We came up Hwy 5 that Friday from Mtn Home to the southeast side of Mountain Home, then went west on 62 to Flippin where we stopped at the WalMart.  I think we left Mtn View about 1pm after sleeping in, cleaning the bike, and then a late breakfast, then we walked around the town square and thru the shops for a while.  Small world!

A friend and I rode 341 on Tuesday.  We had been down to the Texas hill country to ride the 3 sisters with some other friends.  Came back through Arkansas so we could ride 123, 16, 7, and 21 again.  On the way out we stopped in Leslie and had lunch at the Skylark Café.  The burritos were amazing.  I had the special Brisket taco's with spicy slaw.  Damn it was all good.  Saw 341 on the map and just had to give it a spin.   :2vrolijk_21:

You were a long way from home, Mike, and you sure lived up to your handle "backroad mike"!
You definitely took the path less travelled, and I know you had a good time.  341 is nice road and never crowded it seems.

We've not tried the Skylark in Leslie, but drive by there several times a year at least.  The bakery there in Leslie is great and makes some really nice breads.

The 3 Sisters and that whole area down there is worth the trip!  We wanna get back in April to see the wildflowers in bloom, plus hopefully it's not so hot yet.  Been a long time since I've been down thataway.

I'd love to, maybe in the spring around late April or the first part of May and if not then it would be like a year from now late Sept. I bought this bike to ride and I'm going to do it... I need to quit letting work get in the way of life.

When I gave it up at 56 and my wife at 58, we never looked back.  They said I'd get calls to go back to work part-time as a consultant, but I wanted no part of that.  I don't miss the corporate world one bit.  I thought I'd miss the income and the benefits, but I didn't realize how good it would feel to walk away from it all.  My cholesterol and BP dropped, and I've only put on 5 pounds in 2 years and I'll bet most of that is muscle from hard work of a different nature.
Of course, you have a different career Lance, but it's made tougher because I'm assuming you're the owner and the boss and a worker bee at times as well, so maybe that's way tougher than a desk job.   I talk to my old buddies still struggling with their jobs and the company and many have cursed me for being able to retire early (good-naturedly of course), but all want to know how to make it happen as soon as possible.  Everyone should get to try retirement.  If you can entertain yourself and have hobbies and interests you share with your wife, it's a no-brainer.

Not to hijack your thead, but being you are from the Bull Shoals area have you crossed the Peal Ferry? We rode to Harrision a couple weeks ago and found more roads to ride than we could do in a couple weeks, but the ferry ride was something we felt like we wanted to go back and do for sure.

Yes we have, both in a Jeep and on the bike.  It's a weird experience, putting your bike on a steel barge only big enough for 8 cars, but it works.  If any of you try it, hopefully it'll be low wind and a nice day.  The crossing takes about 20 minutes and it's free.  As far as I know it's the only operational ferry in Arkansas still running, and they run it 7 days a week, making a trip every 40 minutes to one side or the other.  The ferry is about 45 minutes from our house, and the ride up to it on the Arkansas side is Hwy 125, which is a fantastic motorcycle road.

Below is a pic of the ferry in the background behind our bike.

And here's a link to the official site:

Mt. Magazine is a great run, and the new State Park Lodge at the top is definitely worth a visit.  They also have pretty good grub there.  Mid-October will be early for that far south for the fall change, but there may be a couple of species that are going thru the change at that time.
If you've never been, you also need to check out Petit Jean SP and Mt. Nebo SP over by Dardanelle.  These three mountain parks are well worth the visit and have some challenging roads to ride!  Bring your cameras!
