58 SE Throttle body
« on: September 30, 2015, 02:44:09 AM »

My 58 TB just showed up at the door. What a difference between the 58 and 2012 stock CVO TB. Casting is smoother inside and better port runners. I spent a little time smoothing the transitions inside, but really didn't need much work. I'm almost tempted to put the stock one tune it and replace it with the 58 to see how much of a difference it would make.

Would be good info to have a "back to back" comparison  :2vrolijk_21:

I may have to be corrected but depending on motor work only gains are going to be in the upper RPMs with the 58  :nixweiss:

Fast, I agree with you, although it would be great to see some back to back Dyno sheets for comparison.

firehog, what injectors are you going to run?

  58 vs 50

obviously its 8mm larger

the port openings on the 58 are larger....1.725 ish compared to the 50 @ 1.6 something....they are all over the place

spigot diameter is larger CVO diameter needing the larger provided flanges

requires a different backing plate/air cleaner or you can modify the stocker

There is no reason not to go with the 58 it does not hinder low rpm performance provided the tuner knows what he is doing

I get the 8mm bigger part. I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the smoothness of the inside casting is compared to my stock one.

5.3 injectors.

If your going to run the 58 with stock cams and heads, the stock injectors are more than sufficient.

When I had the heads done also had the stock TB port matched, at the time it seemed to be the thing to do

5.3s will be needed at that power level!

The numbers may seem low because of the dyno I was on but you can still see the % of gain
