I've run single and double 6x9 lids using both Cycle Sounds and Fairing Factory.

I prefer the Fairing Factory lids over all others.

The lids and speakers can get a little heavy.

The hog tunes lids are the best made in my opinion. They also angle the speaker towards the rider slightly and are setup to drain water.

^^

What hd-dude said.

Although I don't have them ... if I were to move to a 6x9 from the 5x7 I would go with the Hogtunes. The thing that has kept me from jumping is finding a set of quality 6x9's with a bridged tweeter setup.

I'm still looking for them ... lol

Biketronics has a 6x9 set of speakers that mount in the 5x7 opening for the '98-'13 lids. They look like HAT drivers so I'm sure they sound pretty impressive. The design would eat up significantly more bag space though as the entire woofer drops below the lid. Just throwing that out there as an option ...

Pioneer Yellow Cone or Hertz both make quality 6x9 with bridged tweeters. Per my stereo guy.

Not that I have been able to find ... I like Hertz speakers a lot (had a set of Mille in the fairing) and I have scoured their website to no avail. Please have your stereo guy give you a model number.

Post it up as I'm interested.

Thanks

Hertz HCX690 is the 6X9 speaker he suggests.

Hertz HCX690 is the 6X9 speaker he suggests.

Nice speaker but a standard coax design. Does not have bridged mid/tweet and a subsequently sealed voice coil on the bass driver. They will leak with a standard perforated grill.

My search continues .....

I went with the stock Harley lids with 7 X 10 Focals that fit with the adaptors my stereo guy made for me. Sound amazing, huge difference from just the fronts at all speeds. I also did the new Arc 600 series amp (in the fairing) for just the rears.
