These things work great. I have pigtails on all my bikes. I use a Kury dual charger for two of them and have the HD Universal 5A for the SERK. Plug them in whenever they're in the garage - Year Round! No big sweat to plug it in after you lock up the bike. Becomes part of the routine. You really don't have to keep an eye on it either. [highlight]We just can't resist going out to check out our bikes. Any excuse![/highlight] ;) Hoist! 8-)
Especially during the winter months.  Don't want the ride to be lonely out in the garage.  So I go out and keep it company and make sure I polish off any stray dust or fingerprints.

Hope this isn't too far off topic. My 07 Road Glide came with the battery cable already installed on the bike. All I have to do is plug in the H-D tender I already have. Has anyone else buying an 07 noticed this ?

B B
B B, like several otheres have said, the dealer puts the pigtail on the bike - doesn't come from the moco that way.  My dealer included the BT also but since I already have two BTs I sold that one to TCnBham.

Have used Battery Tender brand tenders for years...they are great!  I need to buy one specifically for my snowmobile and was thinking of getting an extra one for my streetrod as well.  Generally, I swap the tender between the snowmobile & my SERK during the off-seasons.

So, today as I was ordering a new battery for the snowmobile, I was looking at the various tenders that are now available....

Check this out.....charges two seperate batteries at once and I like the looks!    [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]    $139.95 & free shipping.    8-)

Battery Tender® BT-TWIN 800

The BT-TWIN housing is a very close replica of the popular V-Twin motorcycle engine configuration. An internal sound chip mimics the sound of a motorcycle engine starting when you connect the charger to a battery. For your convenience, there is also a button to let you activate the sound at any time.

This charger has 2 separate 12 volt outputs with 800 millamps of pure constant current charging power. Coupled with a super smart brain (IC chip), the charger will constantly monitor, charge, and then maintain your battery.

The Battery Tender Corp actually makes the tenders for HD.  [smiley=coolblue.gif]

Yup...and without the extra mark-up price just for having "the badge" printed on the side.     ;)

I'm thinkin' the BT-TWIN tender will probably show up in the moco catalog before too long...complete w/orange & black markings.

Spidey,
Nothing's off-topic for you.  ;) I don't know if the 07's come with them, but when I told the dealer to put one on when they were prepping the bike, he said that they include them on the bike.  I guess it doubles as an extra plug for heated riding gear when you don't have the tender hooked up.  Also encourages the buyer to get a tender from the dealer.  I noticed that my dealer had plenty in stock, so they must sell a bunch of them.  It's actually a cheap price to pay compared to replacing batteries.   My 02 Ultra still had the OEM battery in it when I traded it in on the 07 and I kept it plugged in always during the winter.  So I'm sure it's more than paid for itself.

Turns out it wasn't off topic anyway since I'll bet I wasn't the only one unaware that dealers are installing the pigtails as part of the set up. Thanks for the info guys.

I have two questions on the BT's maybe someone can answer. Will a BT damage a gel type battery?
Since the charge rate is very low , could you rig something up to charge the battery through the cigarette lighter?
Thanks for any info recieved

When you speak of "gel" battery I'm guessing you're speaking of the "AGM" batteries that come stock on our bikes now. If so they Battery Tenders are designed specifically for them.

In regards to charging the battery back through the cigarette lighter I've never heard of that. The Battery Tenders come w/a quick connect/disconnect pigtail that most of us are hard wiring to the battery terminals and using when the bike is parked.

Hope this don't make my Battery take a chit, but Ol' Maudie was born in October, 2001.  BC always hooked up when she's parked-up in the Garage, since Day one.  Still has the original Battery!  Later--HUBBARD

Actually the pigtail is a separate purchase from the BT and the Global Battery Chargers.  The BT and GBCs come with a cord that has alligator clips on one end, and the QD connector on the other, which connects to the BT and/or GBC.  See my original post in this thread for the P/N for the 3 pin pigtail.  That pigtail is what most of us are "hard wiring" to the battery terminals......well, those of us who weren't so fortunate to have it done during the PDI and setup.

Yes, I was referring to the stock battery in my 04. I thought it would be easy to hook up a plug that would plug into the cigarette lighter, like the spotlights they sell. I'm pretty sure you can get a plug at an autoparts store. This would eliminate the need for the pigtail,a potential source of trouble.
Thanks for your response

Bagger, I'm pretty sure my GBC came with both the clips and the 3-prong hard-wired type. I had 2 new accessory pigtails already. When I ordered the GBC, I wound up with 3. The 3-prong pigtails work with 2-prong chargers as well, like my Kury Dually. I'm putting one on the Miata so I can use the GBC on it if I need to. Hoist! 8-)

[smiley=oops.gif] Sorry about that, back when I got mines the pigtails came w/it. Go figure the MoCo to charge you extra for something. ::) You can purchase the Battery Tender Plus which is/does the same thing, and this company makes the MoCo brand. There was actually a post earlier in this thread where a member found the  (Battery Tender) dual charger that can be purchased cheaper then buying direct from Battery Tender, and I do believe they sell the Battery Tender Plus also.
