730 days for me but for the past 25 years I have owned a real estate office and really have worked part time. Sweet job.

Jock, You just have to figure out roads less traveled and get used to going in early to miss rush hour.  I-65 is way easier than I-24 and I-65 on the North side.  Muddypaws, I had thought about Real Estate part time if I can find a Broker that will let me do that.  May approach them to see if I can help with listings and financial paperwork.  Also thought about trying to teach at a local school if I can arrange Tues-Thur class times.  Considered helping out around a sporting goods dealer or bike shop but they all want people to work weekends and I'm sorry but at my life stage I don't do weekends.

Welcome to the wonderful world of retirement Ron! I'm 6 years into mine next month and love it. It does have it's drawbacks though, like no time off for vacation, sick leave, holidays, or weekends. But you will overcome that little inconvenience. Good luck and enjoy!

Retired from career #1 in Nov 2015 after 33 yrs.  I have a post-retirement job lined up that will start in Feb 2016.  It hasn't taken long to realize retirement isn't bad.  You'll quickly lose track of what day it is...everyday is a Saturday.

What is odd is folks, who can afford to retire, but don't because of one reason or another. Everyday is better after retirement.
When I 'retire', I'll still take a job or two each year.....a shut-down or commissioning gig.....great money/short term......and work every day...might as well wreck the whole week!

Not sure at this point how I feel about it, but, New Years Eve will be my last day as an Army Civilian - Engineer.  After 33 years with the Army and 6 years private industry I've decided to call it enough.  Guess its time for more Honey-Do's and hopefully a few more GTG's.  Probably going to try and find something part time flexible enough to free up weekends and trip time.  Monday's going to feel odd sitting at home on a work day having my second cup of coffee and not fighting the Nashville traffic.

I've never known any retired friends that woke up on Monday morning and thought "Gee, I wish I could get out of bed and go into work today!".

Congratulations on achieving your much deserved retirement and best wishes!  Make the most of your retirement and enjoy every day - you've earned it!

Went out on June 5, 2015 after 42 years otj. Busier than ever, especially doing things I used to do before I allowed the job to consume for the last decade. Haven't figured out how I got anything done while working. Even lost close to 20 lbs since I went out. Hope you have a lot of things you like to do, and then realize there's not enough time each day to do all the fun things you enjoy. Congratulations, good luck, and Happy New Year!!       JoeS

went into retirement mode in 2011( drs. lawyers insurance choice) at age 55 (37 yrs as OTR driver). wife decided to write her own pink slip in 2013 at 58. Life is good. 2nd cup of coffee is sweet. we stay busier now than when we worked, doing things we want to do & enjoy doing. hard thing is working them all in to our busy schedules  :orange:. with everyone else. ENJOY the time, sounds like to me you've put in your time & deserve the R&R.    :2vrolijk_21:

Congratulations on retirement!  Its about ten to 12 years off in the future for me.

I have been working a 21 on 21 off rotation for a several years.  I have zero trouble filling the time off with things to do.  Heck, I need more time off!
