J&M Multi Units Cable
« on: January 28, 2007, 08:55:52 PM »

I wonder if anyone tested if this cable will work on 07 models.  After a lot of consideration I decided that I will probably go with a Garmin Nav system despite the HD one (nice to have a screen and maps).  In addition I want to add I-Pod to my bike.  So too many additional sources to connect to my radio. So I thought about the J&M cable and wonder if anyone tried it with 07 SEUC model.

Here is a link to the cable

If anyone is aware of a better alternative I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
Ruben

Hey Ruben:

Had the same predicament.  Went to the Zumo 550 and it has MP3 that works while the GPS is active.  When a voice alert is produced by the GPS the MP3 volume is reduced automatically so you can hear the alert, so all you need is one plug to the auxilary.  I put a splitter on the aux plug incase we just wanted to use the IPOD.  Works for us.

I'm doing the same thing on my bike with the Garmin 2820...using the MP3 built into the unit.  I'm also using a pigtail on the back of the radio for an additional Aux In so there's no wire to the front of the radio.  Works like a charm...

Thanks for the answer. In the meantime I got a reply from J&M.  The CFRG-HRUC cable will not work on bikes later then 05 model. They did not decide yet whether to design one or not.

Good idea on using the MP3 built in Garmin. The only issue is that I have a huge and very complex ITunes library and use exclusively Ipod.  So need both connected. Will probably have to go with the second AUX In.

Thanks for your replies.

I'd be surprised if at some point they (J&M or somebody) don't come out with something to allow connectivity of all systems through the new HK radio, since HD is apparently going to stick with this one for a while.
