I told them to show me ,that they are ok ,or I want my money back,They said they would take it back and give me $1500 back after I paid $2084.00 with tax.Im not making this chit up.
What was their reason for keeping that much?  20% restocking fee?  That's BS to begin with, and more so for a defective part.

I guess  to upset me more,20% of that amount is not $500. plus they wanted $25 for re shipping.

well update on our build Lower end is back together and I would say we are moving forward but there is another hold up.. HA HA the baker DD7 will ship out next week so HE HE there we have it.. The new heads have been checked in so work will start on them very soon as well..  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

And to be clear our or should I say Boston 117 kit is not the one with issues. I have had it in two sets of tq plates at this point to help with the other kit..

I fail to see how HD has a special tq plate kit , I checked in aluminum and ductile iron no real change and I am seeing a few tenths in and out of the plates.   We are good for lift off on this end .

That's good news. So "special" or not, your torque plate results with the cylinders that you have are repeatable and the out-of-round that another person ran into is NOT present in the cylinders you have? That is excellent news, indeed.

Well a tq plate is not special per say and I am not sure what HD has up there sleeve on this one.. I mean we use these plats day in and out. and the engine is not changing ( as that is really where the cylinder gets tq's and ran right )  if the plate works for these others how can HD say it will not work for the others. a plate is just a large thick item that simulates the pressure the head + studs will apply once tq'd down.

I did speak with Heath and I told him to try and set up one up roll the engine over see if the piston drags. as they where not really open to exchanging them.. they are not really up for warranty unless they install.. which is what just put the bike together and run it .. yea thats a tough one

So, just to be sure, you really don't know for sure if they are out of round...correct?

according to the tq plate that was used ,Buy my builder they are out of round,Steve was called for questions to see how the ones he has are.Harley told me to take it to the dealer I purchased to have them checked,Which I did and left them there to be checked, they where going to use there tq plates ,but Harley told my dealer that there has been complaints from others  about being out of round ,and a special tq plate needs to be used to check them. This is what I was told from my dealer as they where told by Harley tech support.was supposed to get call from them today about the plates, still have not heard anything.the kit is sitting up at my dealer. The exact words from my dealer ,is we have done many of these kits and no problems put them on and run them,I asked if they where going to check them if I brought the bike to them ,they said they would use them and give me a 1 year warranty.I want my guy to do the build that has been doing my stuff since 2009,The guy I feel comfortable  ,with. So far we dont know if they are out of round or not .On his tq plate they are showing they are out of round,he showed my some different type cylinders and how they did ,which were fine.I'm doing what Harley told me to do ,take back to my dealer that I bought the parts from and have them check them,It all came down to Harley saying that this is not the first complaint of them being out of round, with out the  harley tq plate, that was mentioned to my dealer, that my dealer does not have,we do not know for sure at this time, waiting to see if my dealer are going to check on tq plates and to see if they get the plates to check my cylinders .So I will ok about doing this build. But as of right now I have not Heard back from anyone. As soon as I know I will post.I'm giving them until Monday to give me an answer ,Or I will follow through on the return.

It's not a voting issue!! Just return them.  Harley should authorize the return and tell the dealer to do so without penalty!

You have two very reputable builders saying they are out of round.

As far as the dealer sayng they would do the build with the out of round kit and give you a warranty, I would RUN and be sure not to have them do any of my work in the future.

Exactly correct.

I would ask the dealer the PN for the special tq plates or have them get the number from the mothership.  If they do exist.  There will be things like SB, PN, and instructions.  They would have to be available to the dealers.

being that no dealer has these special plates they are NOT checking them .  Juse becuase you slam a cylinder on tell a customer to put 500 miles on with some crappy canned map does not make and engine building shop.  Do I need a special head and case now then as well?? as we still clamp them into the engine

I tested in more than one set of plates and this kit here is fine. Not buying the rest of the story but I have someone checking for me and lets see what I hear .. Anything is possible but in this case I am doubting what the dealer told the customer.

special tq plate ???  :ROFLOL:

The answer I got from a person late  today was use the  110" tq plates. I never knew they made such a animal for the 110" stuff.  the ones for the smaller bores are supposedly different. Is it true? Good question.

Up date no call from dealer today after they told me they where going to call and find out about ordering the tq plates they where told about,Belive me the reason I did not call them today was to have a clear head on what to say to them ,instead of getting into a pissing contest like I did in 2011 with the old owner, these are new owners and own 6 dealerships and can't not give me an better answer. They may be worse than the old owner.Im giving them till Monday for answers and getting things done ,Either prove me wrong ,and show me they are not out of round,if they are not we now know,if they are out of round offer me. A new set that are shown to be correct,or give me a full refund.Master card has done so already, but I want this kit still as I have a builder on hold and I have money invested on other parts as of right now I can't use if I get the refund.$600 dollars worth, not the lesson I want to pay for.
