Picked up Two (2) new Toys
« on: January 27, 2016, 09:29:31 AM »

second toy notice added this morning - go to end of post to pick up on that one

not sure if it was Cabin Fever or just the fact I hate not having that old something in the garage to roll in when the bike is not right for the moment
probably will get delivered later next week?

1978 Ford F250 XLT Ranger
400 cubic in
full frame off restoration, engine, train and interior
came with all the build documentation
and all of these parts I guess the guy was going to put in before he passed?

he did it all back to original condition with the exception of using metal flake but the truck was very well done

and I did not want his kids to just give it away or pimp it out

VERY cool.  The farm truck (and the one my pop wouldn't let me drive solo when I turned 16...he was smarter than I gave him credit for) was a 1969 Camper special.  Jet black, 390 with three on the tree.  Previous owner used it to drag race on Saturday night at Sand Mountain speedway.  We got it and it needed a few things.  It was the first motor and transmission I had a hand in rebuilding.  Once we completed the refresh, that thing would FLY!  I took my learners permit using that truck.  Cherry bomb dual mufflers and it would backtalk to you all day long!  Pop traded it for a '76, 302 with three on the tree and wouldn't pull a greasy string out of a cat's butt.
Sure miss that 390..... :'(

Congrats on the '78.

You mean he paid $17.00 and then spent $12K to restore, not that you bought it for $17.00, correct?

OK unless you have been in the world of old, restored
You might not understand that $17 means $17,000 and those who have know
To get a truck like this or others, it cost some die hard American who wishes to save what was once great most likely cost them over $27,000 maybe more to make this way
Unless you just fall face forward on a old women with no TV that still has her hubbies 67 Shelby

I have those that want me to find them the garage find for 5, 6 or $7,000 and I have
But have to be straight with them that those most finds need $10 grand worth of body work then they will get to start on the drive train and interior!
