Assist and Slip Clutch 13 and newer CVO????
« on: February 20, 2016, 09:00:45 PM »

I have the factory Assist and Slip Clutch in my 13 CVO King.  Harley, depending on which catalog you look at lists two different torque ratings for the clutch.

This is the 2016 Screamin Eagle Pro Racing Catalog description.
D. SCREAMIN’ EAGLE® TWIN CAM PERFORMANCE ASSIST AND SLIP (A&S) CLUTCH KIT
Developed for the high-thrust 110CI engine featured as Original Equipment on ’14-later Screamin’ Eagle® CVOTM models, this A&S clutch provides significantly increased torque-handling capacity (~115 lb-ft). Clutch is designed to improve engage-37000026."

This is the 2014Screamin Eagle Pro Racing Catalog description.
"SCREAMIN’ EAGLE TWIN CAM PERFORMANCE ASSIST AND SLIP (A&S) CLUTCH KIT
Developed for the high-thrust 110ci engine featured as Original Equipment on ’14 Screamin’ Eagle® CVOTM models, this A&S clutch provides significantly increased torque-handling capacity.   37000026 $389.95"

And this is the regular 2016 P & A online catalog  http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/twin-cam-performance-clutch-kit
"Developed for the high-thrust 110ci engine featured as Original Equipment on '14-later Screamin' Eagle® CVO™ models, this A&S clutch provides significantly increased torque-handling capacity (135 lb/ft). T"

My question is does any one know what the torque rating really is?  115?  135?  some where between?  My guess based on AIM is mid 120's

I am looking at doing a 117 on my bike.  So I have been looking at Clutch upgrades.  AIM makes a VP-SDR that they say is good for 155 with the heavy spring kit, 120 with the CVO springs and 105 with the light springs.

Has any one used the AIM VP-SDR?  I'm thing of using it with the heavy spring kit to ensure the 117 will not overpower the clutch.

Thoughts?

Yes I have used the AIM SDR at least 2 dozen times maybe more.. lost count  It works fine , I use it with the stock HD springs and they are stronger than what they send, now in the last month they cam out with a stronger spring kit as well... I have run it on bikes making 130 tq right at 3000 rpm with peak in the 135 range  So yes they will hold.

Thank you.  I will get it with their new stronger springs.  Then I will not have the weaker ones.  Can run stock if they hold, if not put in the heavier ones.

On their site then now have two part numbers.  Soft Spring Kit, AIM008-001 and Performance AIM008-002

They are now available with the standard spring or the Heavy duty spring which is good for 155 torque.  They will ship with which ever spring you order.

I have about 1100 miles on the Heavy duty AIM008-002.  My my 117 is 138 HP and 140 Torque.  No signs of slippage on dyno or on the street.  Over 120 torque by 2650 and over 130 by 3000 rpm.

Clutch pull is only slightly more than stock, not bad at all.
