advice needed 2015 Sg vs 2010 Limited
« on: February 22, 2016, 03:32:10 AM »

I have driven my 2010 ultra (non cvo) with exhaust and air intake 30k miles on it. Love the bike.
Took my new 15 Street Glide CVO for my first long trip (900 miles) 2 days and I was blow away by this machine on the highway. Really blow away on its performance. Yes, my back ached a bit but the performance easily crusing 90-95 was amazing.

I still have both bikes and they both have pros and cons, Origninally the CVO was for local runs/bar hopper  and the Ultra limited was for 3 day plus runs. I do have a good 4 week run coming up.

Any thoughts or suggestions on keeping both bikes or upgrading the CVO to touring specs when touring ( bigger seats, more lighting, tour pak, back rest, etc) .

It all depends on what your needs are to be comfortable and how much you want to spend.  Personally I would keep the expenses to a minimum to keep both bikes.  If money is not an issue there are numerous things you can do for comfort and performance.  I have a 08 CVO Road King with 88,400 miles and I sure wish I had a heated seat, grips, better wind protection etc.  Not wanting another Harley I have Yamaha FJR for a second bike.  You should be able to utilize the search function for various topics of interest.

Good Luck & have fun

Personally I like having two bikes, or more.

My 13 CVO King is my hot rod, day trip bike.  That said I have done a trip to Key West on it, and a trip to Milwaukee, and a trip to AR.  The motor has been built and its a blast to ride.

My 15 CVO Road Glide Ultra is my traveling bike.  I put 27K on it in the first year.  No comparison as to the comfort, this one beats the king has down.  However for a quick twisty road in the smokey mountains the kings is more fun.

Also makes trips easer as far as service intervals.  Can make sure one bike is ready for a long trip, freshly serviced,  by riding the other.

So....you want to make your 15 Street Glide a Limited or Ultra?? LOL. I have the same thing, I have a 2010 CVO Ultra, and a 15 CVO Street Glide. Ultra for longer touring, and Street Glide for shorter hops. We took the Street Glide down to Key West from our house in SW Fl. Its about 300 miles one way, went down over the Christmas Holidays with some friends. We stopped for lunch and fuel which broke up the ride. When we got back, my wife and I both agreed that the Ultra was more comfortable. ( have done the same trip on the Ultra). So I understand why you would want to add seat and tour pack
You make all the changes, you talk about you will have two Ultras in your stable when you are done, and the cost of adding the different parts to your Street Glide wont be cheap.
Good Luck. Enjoy your ride.
