Parts Book No Prices?
« on: March 01, 2016, 02:48:06 PM »

A friend of mine went to a dealer yesterday to get the newest parts book and low and behold it has no prices in it???? They told her they ordered it that way since prices change so often and they could give her the current price at the help desk. WTH?????? They told her that if she wanted one with prices in it she could get one from another dealer. She said she would do that and buy there also. Good for her. Anyone also here or see this??

The past few years worth of SE catalogs I've downloaded are the same way, no prices shown.  I just assumed it was one more way H-D chose to make it harder for people to determine if they were being overcharged at their "friendly" local dealership.  Fortunately, MSRP prices can still be found on many dealer websites as well as up to 20% discounts.  Any dealer that doesn't show official MSRP prices for the products they sell wouldn't make any sales to me.  I'm happy to see your friend feels the same way.

Have to be aware of the pricing as some dealers are now even higher than the books when you go in to get items.    Buyer Beware.

That excuse (on not including prices because they change) doesn't pass the smell test.

Have not had prices in the Canadian P&A catalog for years......at least back to '06 when I bought my first Harley.

How would I decide if I wanted an item or not with out considering the price?  It SMACKS of dishonesty and pettiness on the part of Harley and is another temp to cheapen out to the maximum. They could print less books and save money. They want to sell you a bike for $42'000.00 and then are to cheap to tell you how much a bolt is. Your money is worthless and theirs in invaluable.

I think I am falling out of love with the Bar and Shield. I drank gallons of the koolaide of worship for years but I am sobering up and looking around at other bikes.

This about sums it up for me too. I like to know what it cost before I consider mods or replace parts.
This leaves things wide open for the stealers to charge whatever they like.

Yes, I think this is the HD game plan...makes you go to the dealership to get prices.

Hey doc, I'm looking at my 2016 parts and accessories book and there are prices on all the items. I got the big book from SMHD when I was there around Christmas. I'm assuming you are speaking on the normal p&a book that comes out every year.

Just got a book a couple of weeks ago, it's got prices.  Maybe the individual dealers can select either books with prices or books without.
