Thanks for all your feedback lads.
Signed the papers today.

In the end I caved to the dealer.
And am leaving it mainly stock with the 117 kit (with SE295) and Crusher power dual and Maverick slip ons with HD ECM download. Also bought 7yr ESP.

Worst case I figure I will get a fair bit more TQ than the stock 110.
Know I won't approach the full potential but that door is still open down the road if I decide to keep the bike long term.

I was up front on my wishes and they were straight with me stating "no warranty" if I got the tuner or even 585 cams. If I did the mods the suggested not getting the ESP.

I figure why rock the boat. If I really want to I could put an aftermarket fuel controller and dyno tune and pull it off any time I need service but likely more hassle than it's worth for my riding style.

The 7rr with rim & tire warranty seems to be a great option. $350 per year insurance for pretty much full warranty bumper 2 bumper.

Learned a lot from my short time on the forum and truly appreciate the good advice and your fm in posting it.

I won't get a dyno plot but I will post back with my impression of the stock kit once I get it on the road.

Cheers
Steve.

Steve,

It appears that your dealer has led you down a path that someday you'll regret.  I know, because I made the same mistake as you with my first Harley.

If a dealer told me what yours did you, I would have found a different dealer.  He has just wasted your money to get very little gain in performance.

I have learned to take the advice of this forum over a dealers advice any and every day of the week.

You really need to get a good tuner for your bike and get it dynoed (I prefer the TTS Mastertuner).  I don't have any experience with the Maverick cans but I do agree with this forum that the Kuryakyn Crushers are at the top of the list.  Ninety percent of the dealers out here will actually give you a signed statement that these two upgrades will not void your warranty if you make this agreement part of the purchase negotiation.  Changing cams, headwork, larger throttle bodies does.

Good luck with your 117 build but plan on spending more money down the road to get it right.

Don't understand how a dealer can send a performance motor out  the door with a "flash" and warranty it. Maybe they like spinning wrenches.

I devinitely valued and heeded much of the forum advice and I don't feel I've wasted $$ on this really. Yes it will be milder than its true potential with just the flash but still has to be better than a stock 110, or even one with just a tune, and I have no warranty denial fears. The only thing I am not getting is tuner and dyno tune. I could walk out and do that at a 3rd party shop tomorrow and I'm not out a dime and have likely a better tune than the dealers that don't performance time anyway. Not to mention the dealer wouldn't know so I could potentially pull off the tuner if I needed warranty?

Plus they are doing the 117 kit no charge install so a decent deal going it up front.
It would cost more to do later.

Basically I took the advice on this forum and bought Crushers (Maverick is just the tip style) so I'm in an easy upgrade position should I want to risk it with a tuner for no extra cash.
There have been great tunes with 295 and 585 cams so I'm not too concerned about keeping the kit SE295 cam.

Our local dealers are all the same, they will not stick their necks out for a letter guaranteeing warranty, they were pretty clear, even the 585 cams= no warranty.
Sucks but it's the way it is.

So for future reference can the TTS tuner be easily removed without a trace if I end up wanting to have it dialled in?
Obviously the SS race tuner can't since it reports its presence to the ECM.

no your are incorrect a  maverick  is a  muffler  and a poor one at that . The newer version is a bit better than the first one they came out with over a year ago core is still too big..  These companys are all together Kury and V&H with mag group over seeing these two and many more  .   but that muffler,.. we tested when they first came out then we tested the second gen of them as well I would suggest rush slip ons over that muffler..   I cannot help they make it confusing but the crusher is offered in a slip stream and trident , and slash that is it the one you bought , has a completely different core etc.. It will not offer the same results.  you add the mellow to the same tips I wrote and that is it.

below is the 103 Stage Iv street legal kit run , customer was not happy with the power it had , we swapped out of the street legal tuner to one that is not (PV ) and retuned.. street legal tuner is a joke , it has a very short RPM range, no adjustement in any of the factory closed loop areas , no timing for the main part the list of what it does not do is long..  But this bike has the cats in the mufflers and it was a funky bike to tune, and the correct running temps gave it a ripple you add timing to smooth it out and it would ping.. My opinion is the cat int he muffler created that but runs better than before and customer was blown away with his new found power.. He is happy so job is complete

Now there's a deal! Mine charged $1287 labor to install.

My dealer was looking at it at 7-8 hours so roughly $700-800 when we were talking the deal.
I know I would get reamed if I did it after the fact so it was a deciding factor for sure.

Third to get them to cut my buddy a deal for his 2012 CVO and they wouldn't, only with the new bike.

I would do it, I love how the Tridents look (obviously it's your bike though) and will perform better. Luckily these guys steered me away from the Mavericks before I got my Crusher.

I will change the order Monday. Parts guy has it on hold (again) haha.
This is the last change though or he may strangle me.  lol.

Steve, I've got one of the sweetest (mostly) aftermarket 117s out there, it strolls right with the 120s and 124s... and has been totally drama-free for over 27Thousand Miles now...

That being said, if I was in your shoes, ( Harley did not have the " warranty friendly" components available at the time) I'd be doing exactly what you are doing :2vrolijk_21:

I think you made some good choices Steve. It's really difficult to separate the chicken salad from the chicken sh... well we know how that ends. I agree that you should switch to the better muffler, other than that go ride that bike!

Congrats on the new ride, I think you're going to love it.
