I can't believe the price
« on: April 05, 2016, 06:46:26 PM »

I was talking to a guy the other day and he told me he had just ordered the new Limited edition Street Glide Solar Eclipse.  He told me it was going to be $52K and I just thought WOW  P.T. Barnum was right.   I asked a few more questions, and got on line to look one up.  Yep there is a special Limited edition Street Glide Solar Eclipse with either a 103 motor or you can pay extra for the 110.   I saw dealers asking $45K for the 103 and $52K for the 110.   What really amazed me was you can by a Street Glide CVO for just under $37K.  Why would someone pay that kind of money for a bike that does not have all the features of a CVO?  Yes  there will be only 100 units with the paint set, but come on!   I am sure he can find someone to do a true one of a kind paint job for around or less that $10K. He also told me he was trading in a very low mileage 4 year CVO to get this.  WHAT??  What do you think the dealer gave him? He also said that he was not going with the 110 motor, because he felt that he did not need it, but the  price he is paying is the price for the 110 model?
I just wish I could make enough money that this kind of deal would not bother me.  But even if I made 1Mil a year I would not do this deal.

Geez, and I thought the Road Glide Special with the solar eclipse paint and 110 kit was a ripoff at $46K   :nixweiss:

Whatever the Market will bare.  Lord knows I've paid too much, too many times, but if it strikes my fancy, and I can afford it, I'm probably gonna buy it.  Afford being the key word.  We don't go around but once......just sayin'.........Later--HUBBARD

I have never heard of this model? Has HD advertised this bike much, I subscribe to 6 monthly mags and am constantly online and this is first Ive heard of it. I just googled this and some dealers ads say 100 made, and some ads say 400 made, which is it.

Only 100 units to be sold in the US. It is a midyear special edition based on a Street Glide special. It has the paint up grade, nicer blackout wheels, , blackout motor and forks, lowered bags like a SGCVO but it does not have lowers,  the purchaser can get it with the 103 or 110 for an up charge.  But $52 for a 103 is pure robbery!

Hannum's had both the RG and SG in this limited solar edition.

Both had 110's and over $50k

They looked sharp...but HD should have put the 124 motor in it and then I might have been impressed for the $$$$

i've said it before, but the biggest rip off on this is that once you pay $10k for the paint set, the dealer keeps the original tins.  no way i'm paying retail for a bike, plus retail for the paint set and not keeping both.  not to mention the amount of labor they are charging you to swap all this over.

Thanks for the pic, scratch.

I've gotta say, $50K for a police bike? (cause that's what it looks like...)  :nixweiss:

I assume the dealership in Daytona will be asking about $75k.  I also assume some total idiot will pay it.

I must have a major personality flaw, because no matter how much money I have socked away I still refuse to pay outrageous prices for things I don't absolutely need.  I can't think of anyone, especially me, who actually needs a $50k Harley.  Of course, I'm also a bit different in that I'm not interested in playing that "look at me and my stuff, I'm so cool" game either.  Now if someone were to take a totally stock basic SG and personally build a one of a kind custom, I might see them being kind of proud of the result and then showing off a bit.  But I've never understood those who just buy things with no personal effort in creating them, and then walk around with their chest puffed out like they are god's gift to the planet.
