117 Build Numbers ?????
« on: April 12, 2016, 11:29:32 AM »

G'morning all,
Getting ready for a 117 build with 585 cams and 2-1-2 exhaust tuned at 14.6:1 AFR.   What kind of numbers should I expect?

USNCVO,

Not trying to be disrespectful here, but if the bike really gets tuned at 14.6 to 1 you should expect not to be driving it for very long.  These motors at that air fuel are hot and a large motor being that lean I expect you will have lots of issues.

FWIW: The highest most tuners tune these in the "Closed Loop" area is 14.2-14.3 I prefer my own bikes at around 14-14.1 in the closed loop and around 13.x in the 0 percent idle areas.    I would expect at idle a little richer and 2500  up progressively richer past the closed loop areas.

At Wide Open Throttle you should be at somewhere in the range of 12.5 - 12.8 to 1.   Stoic air is 14.7 to 1.

Potential for the motor is around 116-120 hp and 122-128 torque depending on the heads, air cleaner, throttlebody and exhaust working together.

Hoping its just a misquote on the Air Fuel range for the tuning.

This dealership built my last bike.  It was a 2007 ultra... We did p/p heads, 10.5:1 SE pistons, 575 S&S cams, an oil cooler and true duals on a 96 to 103 conversion. I live just outside of Tulsa.  I rode the piss outa that bike for 2 summers in 100 degree plus heat.  About 32k miles on that build. Never had any issues.  The dealership stands behind their builds with no question.  Having said all that, I respect your input and when I spend the last 90 minutes in box with the service manager tweaking the tune, I will have them back it off to about 14.2/3:1 to be safe.   I'll let ya know how the build turns out.  Also doing the Boom 2 Upgrade at the same time.

Also replacing the clutch with the Barnett Scorpion package. Had that in the last one... Loved it.

What are they setting your wide open throttle to a/f wise?     80 / 90 / 95 / 100 kPa.   ?

Let us know how that Barnett Scorpion works with the CVO hydraulic clutch?

Won't know till we get the build done.  I will ask that question then.  I am 6 or 8 weeks out from the build.

Barnett makes a Scorpion for our bike so I am assuming it will be fine.

Been running the Scorpion for couple of years and over 30000 miles with both my 120r and 124. Works great.
