anyone leave muffler heat shields off?
« on: April 23, 2016, 11:29:32 AM »

When installing my Fullsac 2" cores I noticed how nice the mufflers look without heat shields. Has anyone left them off?
DX header and tune helped with heat.
I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea. Any thoughts?

One nice thing about stock heat shields is the cover the entire muffler body that you can see.  The area that blues around the inlet of the muffler is covered.  So, they will always look nice without any discoloration.  I believe this is more why a shield is there over it being an actual heat shield.

From a mechanical view.  I can't see any downside by not running them.

Mine have been off shortly after new. All ready had signs of rust starting around the clamps. No issues.

Removed mine on day one, I think they look better without shields. If a muffler gets scratched I can put it back on.
