AFR table not shown in TTS Mastertune?
« on: April 23, 2016, 05:24:18 PM »

Got my TTS tuner speaking to the bike.
Downloaded Doc's tutorial on doing a basic VE tune until I can get it to a dyno shop.

Saved the CAN dealer flash.
Found the closest file to my setup, EWR617-06 which is, (110", 259cam, Fullsac header & 2" cores).
My setup is 117", 259cam and Crusher header/mufflers.

Load that in mastertune and Doc's first step is set the AFR tables to 14.6.

Problem, there is NO AFR TABLE!?!

Program says it's in advanced mode.

Any idea what's the problem here?

Thanks

In the Main Lambda page on cals that require lambda settings the lambda replaces AFR Settings.   If you need to know what the lambda setting equals in AFR just plug in the .953  .967 up in the table in the top bar and it will tell you the AFR it is set to :)

You can also plug in the afr you want like 12.8 and it will spit out in the bottom box what the lambda setting is supposed to equal to equal the afr you want.

Thanks I ended up googling Lambda and AFR and found out it's directly realted.
From what I found using an online calculator Lambda for afr of 14.6 is .993.

So the first step in Doc's instructions was set the entire AFR table (now Lambda) to 14.6.
I'm guessing that tutorial was written on a much older Mastertune version and they have since changed from the AFR table to using the lambda value.
What should the lambda be set to in this table for V-Tune data collection?

I assumed it should be .993 but only columns MAP=20,65-85 go to .993 then all the others up to are 1.001 with the last few being .934.

Also missing in Mastertune 2 vs Doc's tutorial is the table for closed loop bias voltage.
2.0 has a "MAP normalization gain" table which looks very similar as it's MAP vs RPM.
Values in this table all are close to or at 1.000. SHould I set them all to 1.000 or leave at the base file vlaues?

So my setup steps to gather data for Vtune are:
1) Load TTS base map EWR617-06-A3
This is for a 110 with 259cams and Fullsac header/2" cores but it was closest config I could find as it used 259 cams.

2) Adjusted ECM tuning constants:
    Displacement = 116.9
Injector size = 5.32gm/sec to match the injectors supplied in the 117 kit.
From Doc's tutorial:
3) Lambda table: Highlight all fields and increment to .993 (first row, other cells go to slightly different numbers).
4) Accel Enrichment Table: all set to 0.00
5) Decel Enleanment Table: All set to 0.00
6) Closed Loop Bias Voltage: Does not exist,
(MAP Normalization Gain: Assumed this was similar to closed loop bias and set all to 1.000)
7) Knock Retard Table: Set all to 0.00

Save and upload to ECM.

I believe I'm set to do test rides, does this seem correct?

Have you read the manuals included in the software?  All of your questions are answered there.

Manual does state the change from AFR to Lambda based and the removal of the closed loop bias table since 2010.
It doesn't state what is a good Lambda value to start out at but I happend across a post here where Doc stated .981 is ideal for Vtune data acquisition.

I also found that I tried to highlight all cells, run them to the top then back them down and I coulnd't get them all to set the same value.
I learned I had to higlight the ones that wouldn't change then I could manipulate them to all be .981 except for the 90/95/100 columns.
I set those rich at .899 (13.2 AFR) as they appear to be open loop near WOT.

I think I have a good Vtune setup now so will try it and see.

Some of that information in docs original instructions has been revised over the years.  For example, it is now not recommended to set accel and decel tables to zero.  I'd suggest you refer to the latest tts tuning guide for the most accurate way to procede.
