More north eastern, but J&B Performance Cycles. Justin will treat you right.

I'm also in middle TN and have not heard of anyone recommended locally.  Had one person recommend Rod's Performance down north of Birmingham but don't know how good they are.  May want to consider buying your tuner from someone that will include a download map until you get to a recommended tuner. Following this post for info.

Thanks guys

Maybe I will just go with Bumpus here in Murfreesboro......

Right now I am leaning towards the HD super turner with V&H headers and Crusher Mellow 4" trident tips......

Anyone have any thoughts on those components together......

If all you're looking for/doing is exhaust and tuner you may want to search on this site for Fulsac.... they provide pipesmufflers (IE: baffles), tuner, and map.

Looked at Fulsac and they do sound like a great option......I am concerned about HD and my warranties on the bike if I stray from the Harley tuner....the local dealer will only install the Harley tuner but will do aftermarket pipes and exhaust.....

That's why I am thinking about the components I listed above........really like the sound of the CFR mufflers but they are dam near impossible to find anymore....The Crusher Mellow is about the closed in sound I have found so far....

Thanks for your suggestion Fired00d

The good thing about going Fulsac/TTS is you can put your stock map back into the ECM if you return the bike to "stealer" (dealer) for warranty work the mufflers will remain stock appearing (only baffles will be changed and if need be you can replace them too). Also if you are looking at the Screamin' Eagle Pro Performance Super Tuner this product does have the "Crossed Flags" (IE: CROSSED FLAGS Harley-Davidson motorcycles modified with some  Screamin’ Eagle performance engine parts must not be used on public roads and, in some cases, may be restricted to closed-course competition. All engine-related performance parts identified with the crossed flags symbol are intended for racing applications only and are not compliant for sale or use in California on pollution-controlled vehicles. Alterations of emission-related components constitutes tampering under the U.S. EPA guidelines and can lead to substantial fines and penalties.) So, your dealer may warranty this but that is a "dealer" warranty and only as good as the word's spoken from the dealer... different dealer's or MoCo (IE: you break down on the road) can deny any warranty if it is proven that the breakdown was the cause of the "race only" product installed.

Either way you have to do what you are comfortable with... good luck. :2vrolijk_21:

Bumpus is pretty easy going so far as aftermarket tuners.  Have no idea how good their dyno guy is.  Many bikes bought there leave with changed exhaust and head pipe.  I had a Dynojet Powervision on my prior bike and they never once questioned any work on the bike but I never had engine related warranty work done to that bike.  They did ask when I traded the bike in to transfer the tuner to the next owner.  I've seen lots of CFR's around the dealer and they do sound good but think I've seen poor tuning reports on here for them.  I'm running the Fullsac 2" cores and pretty happy with the sound. Hope to meet you around the dealership.  Phato and JoeVibe on this forum also use that dealer.

I highly recommend the Fulsac headpipe and baffle combined with the TTS tuner.  No matter what system you install you will potentially have warranty issues if you happen across a dealer unwilling to "overlook" your modififcations - or an adjuster if it's an extended service plan issue. I haven't had any problems getting warranty work done on my 11.5 CUSE6 during the original two years or now under my ESP, and  there's been a few trips to the dealer for warranty and ESP covered repair work.

The Fulsac combination can and should be done by you in your very own garage. The baffle installation will take a little time and effort but the head pipe change is very straightforward and easy. Once the hardware is installed using the TTS device to flash your ECM with the new calibration that Steve from Fulsac provides is also straightforward and painless and help is only an email or phone call away - GREAT customer service!!  All in all the whole process shouldn't take more than an afternoon - or even better a morning, that way you can "test ride" your new exhaust and ECM calibration after lunch :2vrolijk_21:

The CFR mufflers do sound nice but it's been shown here and elsewhere that those particular mufflers will rob you of much desired torque.

In my experience I've never found a dealership that would devote the time, or in some cases have the skill, to do an actual Dyno TUNE - mostly they will load a canned calibration into your ECM do a few Dyno pulls and send you on your way. The trouble with the "canned" approach is that the HD tuner only has calibrations for HD components so if you go with, say Kuryakin or CFR mufflers the calibration may only be "close enough".  HD does have a capable tuning device in their Super Tuner but finding someone who can use its functionality to truly tune your bike may present a challenge.

If you don't feel confident enough to perform the mods yourself just make sure you ask some questions at the shop of your choice before buying  your parts.  * which tuner are you most comfortable working with? - no sense buying a brand XXX if the guy doing the tuning never used that brand before  * how much experience do you have with it?     * will you do a FULL tune and not just a canned download?  Just do you homework so you know what your getting into.

If you need a tuner kinda close to us here in middle TN Try this one - I've heard some good things about him and Evansville isn't really all that far

CFR's sound great.  They have a nasty torque dip  below 2800 RPM.

Save money and go with proven performance.  Fullsac DX head pipe, and muffler cores.  He has 3 core sizes, 1.75, 2 and 2.25 inch.  The bigger the louder.  They do not have a torque dip, are easy to tune.  Then get the TTS tuner from him and a map.

All that is around 1K don't remember the exact number, but its less than any one else's exhaust system and performed better than most and you get the tuner.

I have had it on four of my bikes now and 3 of my wife bikes.  I even have it on my 13 SERK with a built motor.

I love the sound of Vance and Hines High Outputs, but replaced them when I saw the torque dip on them compared to fullsac.

Sound is nice, performance where I ride is more important which is 2400 to 3200 rpm.

So much to think about and consider.......for now the CFR route is out of my head.......

More reading to do and have to digest all the recommendations on FullSac....

Doing some research on the V&H fuel pack tuner which looks like something I could figure out....so dam many options out there I think I am scrambling my old brain.....LOL

I had Bumpus install V&H exhaust and the SE Pro Super Tuner before I picked my Ultra up when it was new. The bike ran fine and without any issues for 4,500 miles (before I decided to have GMR "touch it up") but I have no frame of reference for if it was better than stock since I didn't ride it before the mods. I'll will tell you this:

1) Tom Bumpus is a stand up guy and if he tells you he'll take care of warranty issues, I'd take that to the bank. However, if the MOCO or your ESP provider gets involved, Tom's hands may be tied. As has been said, if you break down on the road you'll be at the mercy of the dealer in that area.

2) I know for fact that the "tune" I got at Bumpus left HP & TQ on the table. You may be happy with it as is when they're done but if you want the bike to make its full potential you'll most likely need to go to another tuner. As Phato said, Sheffer in Evansville has a very good reputation. That's where I would go if I needed a "local" tuner.

I don't have any personal experience with Fullsac but a ton of folks here have and I've never read a negative review about their products or customer service. If you do decide to go the Fullsac route and want/need help with the install, or just want a lift to make the job a little easier, give me a holler. Phato has TTS experience and I'm sure he'd be happy to help too.

Good morning Joe

I really enjoyed riding behind you Saturday......loved the sound of your mellows.......

As you know Neil, my son-in-law is a decent HD wrench; he and I have decided for now I will go with the V&H FuelPack 3 and head pipes as you have on your ride.......once I have recovered from the financial shock of this purchase then I will be picking up the Mellows so you should probably not leave your ride out at night......LOL

Kipper, I'm also running the FP3 and it has done OK although I do not doubt a pro tuner could do better.  Bike runs smooth and cool with good fuel mileage and no popping.  I logged 42 mpg going to Panama City a few weeks ago with me, my wife and about 60 lbs gear.  Biggest issue is idle was not very smooth and its very difficult to autotune a large range of cells on the street.  In my unpro opinion, It does not lend itself to use by a pro tuner as the tune files are locked into the V&H servers and cannot be downloaded.  Also bike has to be on to access the tune.  If your a MVP member Bumpus will buy the tuner from Drag for you with your discount.  This only gets it down to about online prices.  Did not see it shown in this thread or your welcome thread, what color did you get?  I was just in front of Joe on the return leg of the ride Saturday.
