Just stay off the Dragon on the weekend. Riding the Dragon on a weekend is a bad idea. Riding the Dragon on a  holiday weekend is a very bad idea.

Blue Ridge Parkway is beyond awesome this time of year. Forecast; 50s  -  80s temps, only about 10% rain. Visit the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC.

Just came through your fair city. Maybe you could ride southeast and pick up the Parkway just south of DC area and ride it as far south as you would like. It would be a great ride if you don't mind riding 45mph.

If you've never been and are interested Rolling Thunder is in DC this weekend. Could be a stop/see as you ride to your destination.

I dunno I would be afraid to be stuck with all the traffic and cages on a holiday weekend even on the blue ridge.

might try like a lake lure, Chimney Rock, Bushey mountain, 221, 80, etc ride up and around the banner elk area, or telico plains, rattler out of Maggie valley, roads out by dillard house etc.

If you're headed to southern Oregon, you might as well ride another 150 miles and join us in the redwoods....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?

No rain suit needed where we're all headed.  :bananarock:
