Went out riding today (ok, get over that shock :)) and during the ride I noticed the fuel light come on and thought I would/could make it to my usual station.... Needless to say while on the Bypass I felt the bike sputter and my @$$ cheeks tighten. Luckily I was near an exit and when I got to the bottom of the ramp there was no traffic and I was able to make it to a gas station. I guess watching the 100th Indy 500 I was inspired by Alexander Rossi and not stop to fuel when I should have... luckily for both of us it worked out... at least I didn't have to get a tow to the winners circle. :D :D

See below of how much fuel my bike took. :shocked2:

When was the last time you filled up?  I'm guessing about two years ago!

No way longer than that... premium was $.25/gallon the last time I filled up... and it was pure gas, no ethanol. ::) :P 8)

My low fuel light comes on regularly when I'm on a trip.  When it comes on, I have about 40 miles range or a gallon left.  So if I know there is a gas station 20 to 25 miles further up the road, I push it.

When out West, I do not push it.  I plan gas stops more frequently as it can be 100 miles between stations.

I remember when high test went from $ .26 a gallon to $ . 28 a gallon and I thought that was outrageous.
I do have a 2 gallon gas can that fits in the place of the tongue cooler on my trailer.

Be careful Spyder.  I remember and Dood's got to be at least a decade older than I am!   :huepfenlol2:

Back in 72 and early 73 during the height of the last "price wars" and before the Nixonian wage and price guide lines and the Arab oil embargo I was pumping gas and manning the grease rack at my dad's Texaco station.  Red shop rag in my pocket probably dragged the ground and had to carry a milk cart out to the gas island to reach across the windshields.

Cheapest I pumped Regular was 19.9 "Ethyl" was 4 cents more.  It only lasted a day at a time on the rare times it got that low but prices in the 20s were common.  Then came the 73 Yom Kippur War in October and the Embargo and I still remember not that much later people driving off when fuel hit 50 cents a gallon saying they'd never pay that much for a gallon of gas  :huepfenlol2: .

Then again if you go by the US "inflation calculator" 50 cents of 1974 money is $2.44 of 2016 money.  So we're really not doing too bad.

But Dood is still old.  :drink:

I also remember 19.9 for Reg. But back to the subject at hand, Sunday on a ride not far from the house my countdown started and went down to the flashing E. Held 5.86 gal.

The light on my 07 comes on about 2 to3 10ths from empty,.... or two to three points off empty.
I went on a run to the north country the next day l met up with some riding buddies and headed further north. When we were going to head back l said I've got to stop for fuel l haven't topped off since I left London and my lights come on. "They looked shocked" and said your chiting us,.....how big is your tank?
About a 150 miles

August '67, Fort Wolters, Mineral Wells, Weatherford Tx, Phillips 66, high test for my 67 Vet, 26.9.

Don't remember how much regular was.

Same time, same area, a big T bone steak, fries, a slad and tea, 2.50.

No, i bought it in '67, brand new for 4150.00, maroon coupe, 327, 300 HP, 4 speed.

Sold it in 71 for 4500.00. If i still had it probably worth 250K or so, like a '59 Les Paul burst. (or what ever the buyer will pay, still have my '62 ES 345)

Bought a 71 XKE, British Racing Green, with a tan convertible top, tan leather, unfortunately sold that too.

If i'd of only known  :(

But enjoyed them both.
