MILTON, Del.- A Dover man is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 1 Friday afternoon.
Delaware State Police say the crash happened around 1:30 p.m.
Police say 23-year-old Joshua Courts was on a motorcycle in the southbound lanes of Route 1 just north of the Route 5 intersection. Penny J. Jeffries, 67 of Pennsylvania, stopped at a stop sign at the intersection before pulling away to cross the southbound travel lanes.
Police say the front of the motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of the car. Courts was ejected from the motorcycle. Courts, who was wearing a helmet at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeffries, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by Lifenet to the Christiana Medical Center where she was admitted with serious injuries.
Coastal Highway southbound was closed for about an hour and half, and north bound was restricted to one lane during the investigation while the crash was investigated and cleared.
