Progressive 444
« on: June 30, 2016, 05:56:27 AM »

Last week on our way back from our Laconia Trip via Gettysburg. We stopped at the birthday bash for Collier HD. Anyway, they had vendors...etc. I spoke with the Progressive shock vendor. I normally ride 2 up. I'm around 5'11 200lbs the wife weighs in at 115. He recommended Progressive 444 with the stiff spring. I do like the stock height of my bike and do not want to lower it.

I've read reviews from people saying was to stiff. Was wondering what yall thought

I put a set of 444 with standard springs on my FXR4,  too stiff even with almost no preset. It was set up with sag according to instructions. I hated them . I gave them away after a year of being dissatisfied.

I had them on my SERG, they were great. Now with new bike I am just to lazy to install and set them up. But they are a good investment.

I had the 444's on Ol' Maudie, ('02 Ultra-Classic), and really liked them.  Above and beyond that air-ride junk Harley puts on 'em, stock.  My CVO Ultra has 944's, and I like them better than the 444's.  If you're an aggressive rider, those stock Harley shocks will get you killed.  They tend to hop, hot in a curve.  That's my experience, anyway.  Most folks say the Ohlin's are better than the Progressive's.  Been thinkin' about gettin' me a set of 'em.  Later--HUBBARD
